Bryce Young, the former Alabama quarterback, is currently the betting favorite to be selected at No. 1 overall by the Carolina Panthers during round one of Thursday’s 2023 NFL Draft.

NFL Combine
At the combine, Young received a production score of 99, putting him at No. 1 among all quarterback prospects. His total score of 92 also was first.
Young reportedly earned a 98-of-99 on the S2 cognition test (made to showcase processing data abilities). The exam replaced the Wonderlic test.

Young finished his second season as Alabama’s starting quarterback last year by passing for 3,328 yards and 32 touchdowns while only throwing five interceptions.
The Pasadena, California native is the only quarterback in Alabama’s decorated history to win the Heisman Trophy.
Young won the national championship as a backup in 2020 and went on to appear as a finalist in the 2021 title game. In 2022, he led the team to victory at the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
The 21-year-old owned a 24-3 record in two years as a starter. In a total of 34 games played, Young threw for 8,356 yards with 80 touchdowns and only 12 interceptions.

In addition to winning the Heisman Trophy, the prospect has a long list of collegiate honors to his name. These awards include the Maxwell, Davey O’Brien, Manning and MVPs for the SEC Championship and Sugar Bowl.
Background
Young attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. As a senior, he won the Gatorade Player of the Year award after throwing for 4,528 yards and 58 touchdowns.
