Young reportedly earned a 98-of-99 on the S2 cognition test (made to showcase processing data abilities). The exam replaced the Wonderlic test.

A personnel executive for an NFL team in the AFC had the following assessment of Young’s outlook as a professional quarterback:

“We all know he’s small, but you grade the talent and if you like him, you make sure he’s protected and you teach him to get the ball out on time. He carries himself like a winner.”

Bryce Young College Career

Young finished his second season as Alabama’s starting quarterback last year by passing for 3,328 yards and 32 touchdowns while only throwing five interceptions.

The Pasadena, California native is the only quarterback in Alabama’s decorated history to win the Heisman Trophy.

Young won the national championship as a backup in 2020 and went on to appear as a finalist in the 2021 title game. In 2022, he led the team to victory at the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

The 21-year-old owned a 24-3 record in two years as a starter. In a total of 34 games played, Young threw for 8,356 yards with 80 touchdowns and only 12 interceptions.

In addition to winning the Heisman Trophy, the prospect has a long list of collegiate honors to his name. These awards include the Maxwell, Davey O’Brien, Manning and MVPs for the SEC Championship and Sugar Bowl.

Young attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. As a senior, he won the Gatorade Player of the Year award after throwing for 4,528 yards and 58 touchdowns.

Projected Pick/Landing Spot: No. 1 to Carolina

The prospect’s poise and physical prowess might be the solution Carolina is looking for in its pursuit of a franchise quarterback.

Young postponed all further meetings after his predraft visit with Carolina on April 17. According to all indications, he is expected to be the first player off the board on Thursday night.

On many sportsbooks, including William Hill, Young has 1/10 (-1000) odds to be selected as the No. 1 overall pick.

Many analysts have compared his skill set and poise to former NFL Super Bowl champion Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints).
