Swiatek’s recent form has been nothing short of dominant, as she reclaimed the Indian Wells title without conceding a set, marking her fourth title in the past six months. With her confidence soaring, Swiatek enters the Miami Open as the favourite, aiming to continue her impressive streak on the Hard Rock Stadium’s courts.

While she was absent from the 2023 edition, she claimed the title here in the 2022 campaign. It was a forceful run as she did not drop a single set, defeating the likes of Caco Gauff, Petra Kvitova, Jessica Pegula and Naomi Osaka on her way to glory.

In the fourth round of the Miami Open, Swiatek will clash against Ekaterina Alexandrova for a place in the quarter-finals on the line. The world No. 1 enters the match as the favourite, boasting an impressive season with 22 wins, including titles in Doha and Indian Wells.

Despite facing a tough challenge in her previous match against Linda Noskova, Swiatek’s resilience and ability to navigate tight situations make her a formidable opponent on any surface. She holds a 3-1 head-to-head record against Alexandrova, including a dominant victory in their recent encounter in Doha.

On the other hand, Alexandrova arrives in the fourth round with newfound confidence after defeating Donna Vekic and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in her earlier matches. While she may not have garnered much attention leading up to this tournament, Alexandrova’s track record of reaching eight quarterfinals in the last 12 months underscores her ability to compete at a high level.

Iga Swiatek’s 2024 campaign

After finishing her 2023 campaign with her first win at the WTA Finals, which put her back at the top of the WTA rankings, Swiatek started 2024 in the same rhythm, winning all of her matches at the United Cup.

However, she followed that up with a disappointing showing at the Australian Open, where she lost to Linda Noskova in the Third Round of the tournament, marking one of the worst results she had at Majors for a while.

Swiatek managed to put that loss behind her and return to her 2024 campaign triumphantly, by winning the Qatar Open. She achieved this by beating Elena Rybakina in the final in straight sets (7-6, 6-2). She is currently playing at the Dubai Open.

Current ATP ranking – how long is Swiatek on top of the WTA list?

In April 2022, Iga Swiatek became the first Polish player, male or female, to be ranked No. 1 in the world. Since then, Swiatek has been on top of the rankings for 75 consecutive weeks before losing the top spot to Aryna Sabalenka after the US Open. Her time at the top market a record among active players since she passed Simona Halep.

Also, Swiatek wasn’t the world’s No.1 only for a short time, since she got right back at the top of the rankings after winning her first WTA Finals title last November in Cancun.
