La Vuelta Stage 10 Profile

The 2023 La Vuelta Stage 10 starts and finishes at Valladolid after a large circular tour. This stage is all about pacing yourself against the clock in what is a largely flat terrain from start to finish. The stage is 25.8 km (16 miles) long and the starting time is 12:57 GMT. Meanwhile, the  estimated finish time is 16:30 GMT.

From La Vuelta official website

The start podium is situated at the foot of the Puente Mayor, which bridges the Pisuerga river, while the route winds its way through several neighbourhoods and suburbs of Valladolid.

The riders first head for El Estadio José Zorrilla, the home base of La Liga football club Real Valladolid, before continuing through the Parquesol suburb. After crossing the Pisuerga again the riders take a right turn and storm towards suburb Pinar de Antequera.

While the first part of the route features a number of corners, the section towards Pinar de Antequera is fairly straightforward. Flat, with hardly any corners, so tailor-made for purebred ITT specialists. The same goes for the route back to Vallodolid.

Our betting tips and predictions for La Vuelta Stage 10

With the 2023 La Vuelta now on its way, all eyes are on team Jumbo-Visma which contains the two main favourites for the overall win. However, many other riders have high aspirations and this mountain-summit funnish after an easy day of riding is an opportunity for some of those breakaway specialists to try and get a stage win.

Our Outright Prediction: Remco Evenepoel @ 7/1 (8.00)

The defending La Vuelta champion Remco Evenepoel won last year’s ITT on his way to the triumph and he is a fierce time trialist. Remco is a pure time trialist so the mostly flat terrain, apart from a 600m climb early on, should be perfect for him and as he has some catching up to do we expect the Belgian to press as hard as he can. When he does that Evenepoel usually wins these races against the clock.

Our Each-way Prediction: Filippo Ganna @ 1/4 (1.25)

The safe each-way pick today goes to the big pre-stage favourite Filippo Ganna. The powerful Italian is a specialist time trialist and this profile suits him perfectly. The bookies back Ganna to win. We think others will better him but still we back him to finish in the top 3 as he is a monster on the road when the terrain is flat and he can rave his engine on.

Our Dark Horse Prediction: Jan Tratnik @ 80/1 (81.00)

For our dark horse to win stage 10 we pick the 3-time Slovenia time trial champion Jan Tratnik. He is another Jumbo-Visma rider who has shown fine form so far in this race and if he feels exceptionally well he could be the surprised winner. Tratnik knows full well that his only chance to win a stage in this race is exactly via an individual time trial so he will be giving it his all.

La Vuelta Stage 10 Odds

Now we’ve made our picks here are the odds for the top 10 favourites to win Stage 10:

Filippo Ganna 7/4 (2.75)

Primoz Roglic 5/1 (6.00)

Remco Evenepoel 7/1 (8.00)

Jonas Vingegaard 7/1 (8.00)

Juan Ayuso 14/1 (15.00)

Mattia Cattaneo 25/1 (26.00)

Matteo Sobrero 33/1 (34.00)

Geraint Thomas 40/1 (41.00)

Nelson Oliveira 40/1 (41.00)

Our first 2 picks from above are among the top 3 favourites for the stage. Of course, we find there too the main Jumbo-Visma favourites Roglic and Vingegaard. However, they both prefer a bit more climbing when it comes to time trials so we don’t fancy their chances for the win that much.

Our dark horse pick Tratnik is not on this list but if he has a good day he can be a threat.
