La Vuelta polka dot jersey: Our prediction
We simply can’t see past Remco Evenepoel (1/4 (1.25) odds after Stage 15). The Belgian lost all hope to defend his La Vuelta red jersey from last year. He holds a solid lead in the King of the Mountains classification though and is expected to focus all his efforts on taking at least that jersey home this time around. That said as a dark horse we would like to pick the Spanish veteran Mikael Landa. Landa knows the hills of Spain better than most, he is a very gifted rider with a lot of experience and he started 2023 very well before fading a bit in the summer months. Landa’s odds for the poka dot jersey are 33/1 (34.00), so we think he is someone worth keeping an eye on as the mountainous stages arrive.
