La Vuelta white jersey odds
Below, we give you the current odds for the La Vuelta white jersey winner. Here are the top 5 riders placed based on their odds of becoming the 2023 La Vuelta’s best young rider:
Remco Evenepoel 16/1 (17.00) [was 5/4 (2.25) at the start of the race]
Juan Ayuso 1/5 (1.20) [was 6/4 (2.50) at the start of the race]
Joel Almeida 12/1 (13.00) [was 11/2 (6.50) at the start of the race]
Thymen Arensman 200/1 (201.00) [was 16/1 (17.00) at the start of the race]
Lenny Martinez 200/1 (201.00) [was 20/1 (21.00) at the start of the race]
It is painfully obvious that the winner of the 2022 La Vuelta Remco Evenepoel and the UAE Team Emirates young leader Juan Ayuso will battle hard for the white jersey. Their odds are pretty much even at the start of the race and both of them have high ambitions.
The only young rider given a realistic chance to challenge for the white jersey is Ayuso’s teammate Joel Almeida. Almeida is a gifted climber and a very strong time trialist. He will stay close to Ayuso at all times and due to that he will certainly be within reach of the top spot for the white jersey come the final week of racing. Still, for Almeida to finish ahead of both Ayuso and Evenepoel will be pretty extraordinary.
As things panned panned out after week 2 Evenepoel had a few bad days and the white jersey seems to be all but secured by Ayuso already.
La Vuelta white jersey: Our prediction
We think the battle between the two young guns Evenepoel and Ayuso will be fascinating in the race for the white jersey. It’s naturally hard to pick who will prevail but our gut tells us that Juan Ayuso’s superior climbing skills will give him an advantage in the many mountain stages and that’s why we pick him to grab the white jersey. Also, let’s not forget Ayuso has Almeida as a teammate helping him and this should play an important role too.
