Liverpool take on Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon in the Reds’ first home Premier League game of the season. Last weekend, Jurgen Klopp’s men played out a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge while Bournemouth also shared the points with West Ham at the Vitality Stadium. With both teams still looking for their first win of the season, Anfield is all set for a thrilling encounter. Here are some free tips and predictions to consider.

The best Liverpool vs Bournemouth predictions and picks

Liverpool -1 handicap

Although Liverpool looked weak in midfield and exposed at the back against Chelsea, they did still look ominous in attacking positions. Luis Diaz got their only goal of the game but Mo Salah was only a fraction away from giving the Reds a second when he strayed offside. What’s more, Liverpool do enjoy playing Bournemouth and they put them to the sword in this exact fixture last season, with the game finishing 9-0 to the home side.

Both teams to score

One of the reasons for Bournemouth replacing Gary O’Neil with Andoni Iraola in the summer was that the Bournemouth hierarchy wanted the team to become expansive at the top end of the pitch. Iraola’s Rayo Vallecano side were electric at times and one thing is for sure – they won’t be going to Anfield on Sunday to simply defend. They were perhaps unlucky not to beat West Ham on Saturday and with Liverpool still looking shaky at the back, expect a few goals at both ends of the pitch.

Mo Salah to score anytime

Mo Salah cut a frustrated figure on Sunday when Jurgen Klopp elected to substitute him with ten minutes left to play at Stamford Bridge. It is the first time since Salah signed for Liverpool that he has failed to score on the opening day of the season so he will be doubly revved up on Saturday to get himself on the scoresheet. Given how many goals Liverpool scored last time they played Bournemouth at Anfield, backing Salah to get a goal seems sensible.

Liverpool v Bournemouth: Anfield awaits

Liverpool

After missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea, the search for a holding midfielder goes on at Liverpool and the issue is no closer to being resolved as things stand. It means they will go into this one with either Alexis Mac Allister playing as the number six again or Curtis Jones. Darwin Nunez could also get his first start of the season after starting on the bench last weekend.

Bournemouth

Last weekend, Iraola used 16 players to rescue a point against West Ham and given the impact some of his substitutes had on the game, it is unlikely that he will start with the same eleven this time around. Justin Kluivert could be in line for his first start of the season while Chris Mepham could also come back in from the start. One man who will definitely be starting is Dominic Solanke after his goalscoring heroics last week.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth head-to-head record and form
