Aston Villa will look to bounce back from last week’s demolition at the hands of Newcastle when they take on Everton at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon. The Villains had a miserable time of it last weekend in the North East but will still come into this one in an optimistic mood given their record on home turf under Unai Emery. Everton, on the other hand, still look short in various positions which doesn’t bode well for Sean Dyche’s men. Ahead of the game, check out these free predictions and tips.

Contents
Aston Villa to win
You have to go back to the beginning of February for the last time Aston Villa failed to win in the league at Villa Park with Unai Emery’s men currently on a seven-match winning streak at home.
Their opponents on Sunday, Everton, are almost as bad away from home as Villa are good at home which sets this one up perfectly for an Aston Villa win. The Toffees only managed to win twice on the road last season which doesn’t bode well for them here.
Aston Villa to keep a clean sheet
Last weekend, Villa’s high line had the shock of its life when Newcastle put five past them at St James’ Park. To make matters worse for Unai Emery, Tyrone Mings was stretchered off which brought Pau Torres onto the pitch earlier than planned.
The Villa defence will be keen to rectify last week’s performance and Torres is a far better player than last week suggested. What’s more, Everton a toothless up front and won’t cause Villa nearly half as many problems as the Magpies did last weekend.
First half over 0.5 goals
A common theme in Aston Villa’s home form under Unai Emery is the quick starts that his team have repeatedly made. In their last seven home games, Villa have scored the opening goal in the first 30 minutes on six occasions. It would be foolish to bet against them doing the same here against a vulnerable Everton defence.
Aston Villa vs Everton: Wounded Villains prepare for battle
Aston Villa
Coming into the new season, Aston Villa fans were feeling more optimistic in a long time after their sensational run of form at the back end of the 22/23 season. While that optimism is still there, the atmosphere has been dampened somewhat by injuries to Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia, and the 5-1 defeat to Newcastle.
Everton
Everton fans don’t have much to shout about at the minute and unless the board get busy in the coming weeks, another relegation scrap is very much on the cards. The club are still reliant on Dominic Calvert-Lewin for goals and considering the Englishman’s injury record, that isn’t a good place to be. If they lose again on Sunday then they will have started the season with back-to-back losses.
Aston Villa vs Everton head-to-head record and form
Aston Villa and Everton have played each other on 228 occasions in history, making it one of the most historic fixtures in English football. Aston Villa have won 86 of those games, Everton have won 82 and there have been 60 draws.
