The best Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest prediction and picks
Contents
Arsenal -2 handicap
Last season, Arsenal got off to a flying start to the season winning their first three games and scoring nine goals in the process. In front of their home fans on Saturday afternoon, we are expecting Arteta’s men to get off to another quick start and put Forest to the sword. The Emirates crowd should be in a buoyant mood after last weekend’s Community Shield victory and Arsenal should cruise to a comfortable win.
Arsenal to keep a clean sheet
Last season, Arsenal’s defensive record was split in two. When William Saliba was fit and playing, Arsenal had the best defensive record in the league. When he wasn’t, they looked far too open and weak at the back. The Frenchman is fit and raring to go and with the added protection of Declan Rice in midfield, we can’t see Nottingham Forest creating too many opportunities on Saturday afternoon, never mind scoring a goal.
Kai Havertz to score anytime
Kai Havertz is one of three new faces who are expected to start for Arsenal on Saturday and the German is likely to find himself in a more advanced position than what he may have expected when he signed for the club. Havertz was brought in to play as an advanced midfield, however, due to Gabriel Jesus’ injury the ex-Chelsea man is expected to start up front on Saturday. He may have missed a few big chances in the Community Shield, but we are backing him to get on the scoresheet this weekend.
Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest: The Gunners to start quick
Arsenal
There probably isn’t a team in the Premier League more determined to do well this season than Arsenal after last season’s capitulation. The Gunners led the Premier League for 80% of the season until the wheels came off in the Spring but they should be better for that experience. Arteta has added Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz this summer and all three will make his team better.
Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest have been a bit more careful in the transfer market this summer when compared to their scattergun approach last year. Steve Cooper should have a more settled eleven as a result and he will be hoping that that results in better results over the course of the season. Their star man is still Morgan Gibbs-White and if they are to pull of a shock on Saturday then he will need to be at his very best.
