The Best Brighton vs Luton Prediction and Picks
Contents
Brighton to win
This may seem like an obvious tip, however, there is really only one way this one can go. Perhaps if the game was being played in front of Luton’s home support then an upset would have been on the card, but given the game is being played at the Amex and the significant gulf in quality between the two sides we are expecting a comfortable victory for the Seagulls.
Brighton to keep a clean sheet
Last season, Roberto de Zerbi’s Brighton side drew plaudits from all corners of the footballing world for their expansive and attractive style of play. They scored a total of 72 goals in the Premier League last season, however, they did concede also concede 53. This year, the focus will be on bringing that number down and if they can’t keep a clean sheet against newly-promoted Luton Town at home then they are going to struggle with that.
Over the summer, de Zerbi brought in centre back, Igor, from Fiorentina and the £17m is expected to slot straight in at the heart of the defence. He could give de Zerbi’s side some much-needed steel and we expect him to impress on debut against Luton.
Evan Ferguson to score anytime
Evan Ferguson’s season was disrupted by an injury just as the teenager was really showing everyone what he was about during the back end of the 22/23 season. Ferguson is now fit and ready to go for the new season and is expected to form a partnership with new man, Joao Pedro at the top end of the pitch. We expect him to be keen to impress on Saturday and predict he will get on the scoresheet.
Brighton vs Luton: Can Brighton replicate last season’s form?
Brighton
Brighton were most people’s “second” team last season due to their attractive style of play which means they are once again one of the teams most people are looking forward to watching this season. De Zerbi has brought in several new faces this summer including Joao Pedro and Igor who are expected to make their debuts at the weekend.
Luton
After securing promotion last season, many people have Luton Town down as the number one favourites to be relegated from the Premier League this season. The Hatters haven’t done anything too significant in the transfer market which hasn’t helped their case with Ross Barkley their “marquee” signing on a free transfer.
