Brentford take on Tottenham on Sunday in what will be both side’s first Premier League match of the season. Brentford enjoyed yet another impressive season last time out under the guidance of Thomas Frank while Spurs had one of their most disappointing seasons in living memory after being tipped for big things under Antonio Conte. Ahead of the clash, we’ve put together some free tips and predictions which are well worth a look at.
The Best Brentford vs Tottenham Prediction and Picks
Contents
Brentford +1 handicap
Ever since being promoted two years ago, Brentford have firmly established themselves as a team who can mix it with anyone. Last season, they were the only team in Europe to beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium while they also handed out drubbings to Manchester United and Liverpool at the Gtech Community Stadium.
While they have every chance of beating Spurs outright on Sunday, adding a +1 handicap to the slip means you are on to a winner providing they don’t lose the game. Even if they lose by one goal then you will have your bet refunded as void. At 8/15, this is phenomenal value.
Both teams to score
Last season, Tottenham were the most boring team in the Premier League to watch under Antonio Conte. They played an ultra-defensive system and paid the price for it. This season, they are expected to be far more expansive under Ange Postecoglou which makes this match a mouthwatering prospect given we know for a fact that Brentford are going to throw everything at Spurs as standard.
Son Heung-Min to score anytime
Son Heung-Min is coming into this game and season on the back of his worst-ever campaign in a Spurs shirt. The Korean forward won the golden boot two years ago but only managed ten last time out. With Harry Kane unlikely to play on Sunday given the speculation around his future, Son will be the main man for Spurs and we expect him to embrace that with open arms.
Brentford vs Tottenham: Toney and Kane to both be missing?
Brentford
Brentford will be without Ivan Toney on Sunday as the centre forward continues his long-term suspension due to gambling breaches. He will undoubtedly be a huge loss to Frank’s team and it will be interesting to see who they go with up front in his absence, particularly as Brian Mbuemo is nursing an injury.
Tottenham
After months of negotiations, Tottenham agreed a deal with Bayern Munich for Harry Kane on Thursday morning. While it’s still unclear whether the England forward will make the move to Germany or not, it is unlikely that he will play a part on Sunday. This could mean that Richarlison, who had a terrible debut campaign in North London, could start up front for the away team.
