Week 10 is in the books and some of the AFC divisions have already shaped up pretty well while others are going to be interesting to follow until the end. Our team finalized its mid-season picks for the winner of each AFC division and we will now share them with you.
AFC East
The Dolphins and the Jets are obviously out of contention here being 3-7 and 2-7 respectively. The interesting part is that the Bills are not a surefire winner of the division at all. With New England winning 3 in a row and facing Atlanta on a short week, the Patriots may very well tie Buffalo for 1st place by the end of week 11.
Speaking of Buffalo, that 9-6 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars has to be some sort of a wake-up call. However, it may serve as a clear sign that the Bills are not as solid as they look.
It looks like the Patriots have gelled and are peaking at the right time too. The best part is that the two teams will have to face each other twice in the remaining 8 games of the season.
Our AFC East winner pick: The New England Patriots
AFC North
What looked it could be a landslide win for the Ravens at the beginning of the year turned out to be a pretty tied-up race by the end of week 10. Baltimore is indeed in 1st place with a record of 6-3. The Steelers, though, are 5-3-1 and we got the Bengals at 5-4 with the Browns in 4th place at 5-5. This can really go anyone’s way especially if Baltimore loses another game like the one against the Dolphins. Looking at their schedule, the Ravens have to face both Pittsburgh and the Browns twice in the remaining 8 games.
We doubt the Steelers have the capacity to pull it off but if the Bengals string a couple of victories as they did at the beginning of the season, they may very well snag the division title.
Our AFC North winner pick: The Cincinnati Bengals
AFC South
This one will likely be not very close at the end of the season. There was a glimmer of hope that the Colts will be able to challenge Tennessee for the division title but since Derrick Henry went down, the Titans have won 2 in a row solidifying their 1st seed in the division at 8-2.
What’s worse for all 3 other teams in the division is the fact that the Titans’ remaining schedule is among the easiest ones in the league. Out of the 8 games left in the season, Tennessee will face only 2 above-.500 teams – the Patriots and the Steelers.
Our AFC South winner Pick: The Tennessee Titans
AFC West
After that blow-out game between the Chiefs and Raiders on SNF which KC won 41-14, the division is again wide open. It was only a week ago that we thought the Chiefs are finished after barely winning at home against Jordan Love. And now KC is 6-4 sitting atop the division.
Don’t get us wrong – they haven’t won anything yet with the Chargers and Raiders following them closely at 5-4. An argument can be made that the Raiders have the worst remaining schedule out of the three teams. We think that Andy Reid’s experience will finally prove to be the decider and the Chiefs will be division winners once again.
Our AFC West winner Pick: The Kansas City Chiefs
