Dallas Cowboys vs New York Jets – game predictions

The Cowboys are a 9-point home favorite with a total of 38.5 points. Dallas opened as a -3.5 favorite and should claim the win in a low-scoring affair with plenty of defensive highlights.

Prediction 1: Cowboys -9 @ -110 (1.91)

The Cowboys pounded the Giants in the season opener but will host a Jets squad that boasts one of the league’s top defensive units. New York forced four turnovers in an upset win over the Bills last Monday night. As a betting favorite, the Cowboys have an against the spread (ATS) record of 4-1 in their previous five games. Meanwhile, the Jets have averaged just nine points and posted an ATS record of 1-4 in their last five road matchups. Dallas will pick up its second win of the young season, but New York’s defense will keep the game much tighter than expected.

Prediction 2: Tony Pollard Under 70.5 Rushing Yards @ -115 (1.87)

The Cowboys had little success running the ball against top defenses last year. Pollard rushed for less than 70.5 yards in half of the 16 games he played a year ago, but he was also part of a committee backfield with Ezekiel Elliott. Pollard averaged five yards per carry in Week against the Giants and is ranked eighth among running backs with 14 rushing attempts. New York limited Buffalo running backs to 57 yards on 15 carries and should be able to contain the Cowboys running game. Pollard is capable of breaking loose for a big run, but the Jets will hold the featured back to less than 70 yards in this one.

Dallas Cowboys vs New York Jets – Can the Jets win without Aaron Rodgers?

Wilson has won just eight of 22 starts in his short career, and the Jets will be forced to use a run-heavy script and a stingy defense to upset the Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboys form, news and injuries

The Cowboys will open their home slate Sunday with a league-high seven sacks and the NFL’s top-ranked pass defense after a dominant win against the Giants in Week 1. Dak Prescott completed 13 of 24 passes for 143 yards in the rainy conditions at MetLife Stadium but was also the victim of several dropped passes. Dallas linebackers posted 19 tackles in the season opener, including 14 solo stops.

Both starting tackles, Duane Brown and Mekhi Becton, are banged up but will play against the Cowboys’ elite cabal of pass rushers.
