Chicago Bears vs Green Bay Packers – game predictions

The Bears are coming off a historically awful season and their desire to start the new campaign well will be driving them forward as they take on the new-look-Packers.

Prediction 1: Justin Fields over 184.5 passing yards @ -110 (10/11 [1.91])

Chicago’s quarterback Justin Fields nearly broke the NFL QB record for running yards last season but he threw for only 2,242 yards and 17 touchdowns. Fields averaged only 132.5 passing yards per game in 2022, which ranked the Bears dead last in that department.

However, Fields had his best passing game in Week 13 exactly vs the Packers when he threw for 254 yards. Also, the Bears made a bold move and traded their number 1 Draft pick for the WR DJ Moore and this suggests that there will be a lot more passing going on for Chicago this season. All that makes us believe that Fields will record at least 185 passing yards in the coming match.

Prediction 2: Khalil Herbert touchdown anytime @ +150 (6/4 [2.50])

With our second Bears vs Packers pick, we back Chicago’s main RB Khalil Herbert to start the new season with a touchdown. The Bears led all teams for rushing yards last season and Herbert will be heavily involved again. Herbert ran for 6 touchdowns last season and we can see him starting this campaign on the front foot too. Herbert recorded 4 of those 6 touchdowns at Soldier Field so he tends to excel on home soil.

Can the Bears stop the bleeding against their old foes the Packers?

Chicago Bears form, news and injuries

It was a bad season for the Bears in 2022. Their 3-14 record brought them their worst-ever loss tally in the team’s history.

The Bears traded the number 1 Draft pick this off-season to bring in Carolina’s wide receiver DJ Moore. With over 5,000 receiving yards, he is supposed to improve the area that Chicago need improving most. Now it will be up to the third-year QB Fields to start showing that he has improved his passing game.

Tight ends Marcedes Lewis and Robert Tonyan left Green Bay this summer to join the Bears and they will be both pumped up to shine in this match.

In pre-season, Chicago went 1-2. Lost to the Colts and the Bills but in their last match beat the Titans.

Chicago Bears injury report:

  • G Nate Davis – questionable
  • LB Dylan Cole – questionable
  • C Doug Kramer – on IR list (out)
  • WR Joe Reed – on IR list (out)
  • OT Teven Jenkins – on IR list (out)
  • LB Buddy Johnson – on IR list (out)

Green Bay Packers form, news and injuries

Green Bay Packers went 8-9 last year and missed the playoffs for the third time in the last six years. As a result, the reset button was pressed and the long-serving quarterback Aaron Rogers was traded to the Jets. This means that after 3 years of patiently waiting the 2020 26th draft pick Jordan Love will now become the starting quarterback. Love has a 9-1 record as a starter but most of those starts were when the outcomes mattered little, so he is yet to be tested properly in a charged atmosphere.

Green Bay also overhauled their special team and in general the team is much younger this season.

The Packers went 2-1 in pre-season. Lost to the Patriots but beat Cincinnati and Seattle.

Green Bay Packers injury report:

  • WR Christian Watson – questionable
  • WR Romen Doubs – questionable
  • LB Rashan Gary – questionable
  • CB Eric Stokes – ruled out
  • OT Luke Tenuta – on IR list (out)
  • TE Tyler Davis – on IR list (out)

Bears vs Packers head to head record
