The 2022 NFL season has hit the midway point, and the playoff picture is beginning to take shape. In the NFC, the unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles lead the pack, with the Minnesota Vikings chomping at their heels. However, the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers remain in the hunt for the top seed.

A buffet of questions will be answered over the final two months of the regular season. Will the Eagles finish with a perfect record? Can Tom Brady lead the Buccaneers to the NFC South title? Are the Vikings legitimate Super Bowl contenders? We will learn these answers as teams jockey for playoff positioning over the next nine games.

Potential Division Champions in the NFL

I believe the Cowboys will win the NFC East over the Eagles, and the 49ers will clip the Seahawks in the NFC West. The Vikings should conquer the NFC North, and the GOAT will lead the Buccaneers to another NFC South crown.

Why the Cowboys over the Eagles? Philadelphia has been both good and lucky. They have beaten Jared Goff, Kirk Cousins, Carson Wentz, Trevor Lawrence, Kyler Murray, Cooper Rush, Kenny Pickett, and Davis Mills. The Cowboys and Eagles boast strong defenses, but I think Dak Prescott is better than Jalen Hurts, and I like the Dallas ground attack.

The Seahawks are this year’s Cinderella team, but I feel like Seattle is one injury away – Geno Smith or Kenneth Walker – from having their magical season turn into a disaster. The 49ers are built to run the ball and play solid defense, which will be enough to win a weak West division. The Vikings should coast to the North title, and I like the Buccaneers over the Falcons and Saints to claim the top spot in the South division.

Which will the Wild Card teams be?

The Eagles, Seahawks, and Giants are my picks to advance to the playoffs as wild-card entrants. Philadelphia has peaked too early and Hurts impressive season will undoubtedly endure some bumps down the stretch. Seattle’s defense is a liability, but if Smith and Walker can stay healthy, I see no reason why the Seahawks cannot win 10-11 games. New York does not have enough talent to make any noise in the playoffs, but the Giants should sneak into the playoffs barring a late-season collapse.

The Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints, and Arizona Cardinals are the other teams in the NFC who still have a shot at earning a playoff berth.
