Breanna Stewart married Marta Xargay on July 6, 2021, in an intimate ceremony that involved only a handful of close friends and family members. Among the handful of witnesses were their friend and teammate Katie Lou Samuelson and her boyfriend.
Since Marta Xargay retired from playing basketball in 2021 she followed Breanna Stewart and the two made Brooklyn, New York their home. This is where the family resides, at least while Breanna is playing for the New York Liberty.

The retired Marta and baby Ruby Mae have been following Breanna Stewart around the world since that day. Marta is an extremely dedicated parent as even Breanna states when talking about her wife: “Going on the road just a week after she was born, I was like, ‘This obviously sucks,’ ” she said. “But I know that she’s being well taken care of with Marta, with her family and with my mom, and I make her send me pictures and videos all the time.”
