The Sacramento Kings will host their in-state rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, on Sunday at 1:00 a.m. GMT (Saturday, 9 p.m. ET) in the Golden 1 Center.

De’Aaron Fox and the Kings (1-1) enter the game after falling 122-114 to the Warriors on Friday. Lebron James and the Lakers (1-1) beat the depleted Suns 100-95 on Thursday.

Sacramento Kings vs Los Angeles Lakers game predictions

The Kings are 3-point favorites, and the total is set at 234 points.

Prediction 1: Domantas Sabonis over 37.5 pts, reb and ast @ -120 (1.83)

The 37.5 total and -120 odds at DraftKings and Bet365 are superb, thanks to the majority of books having Sabonis’ total at 38.5. Bovada’s prop builder has Sabonis at -193 to record at least 37 and at -109 to record at least 39, so the 38 mark would be around -150 (60% implied odds).

Through two games, the Gonzaga product has averaged 41.5 combined points, rebounds and assists. His average during the 2022-2023 regular season was 38.7.

Sabonis 2023-2024 game log

  • 10/27 vs. GS: 19 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists (44 total)
  • 10/25@ UTAH: 22 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (39 total)

Against the Lakers, Sabonis has excelled as of late.

According to Sportsbook Wire, the 27-year-old scores 1.3 more points on average against LA than his prop total (18.5) for the contest. He also averages 14.2 rebounds against the Lakers, 1.7 higher than his total (12.5). He also averaged 8.2 assists per game against LA, which is 1.7 more than what he’s featured at (6.5).

Last season, when facing the Lakers, Sabonis averaged 42.33 points, rebounds and assists.

Sabonis’ pts/reb/ast vs. LA in 2022-2023

  • 1/7/2023: 44
  • 12/21/2022: 46
  • 11/11/2022: 37

BettingPros’ model projects Sabonis to have about 40.1 points, rebounds and assists for the outing.

Prediction 2: Lebron James to score 20 or more points @ -155 (1.65)

I’m usually not a fan of recommending picks this steep at -155 (FanDuel), but with Bovada having this line at -257 (72% implied odds) and DraftKings listing it at -190 (65.52% implied odds), it’s a no-brainer. Most oddsmakers have James’ total at 21.5.

The “King” has recorded 21 points in both contests this season, having played 29 and 34 minutes. There’s no doubt he’s getting older in age at 38 and will see his minutes monitored, but he’s coming off two full days of rest since the Lakers last played on Thursday.

He also averaged 33.33 points in the past campaign when facing the Kings.

James’ 2022-2023 stats vs. Sacramento

  • 1/18/2023: 32 points in 37 minutes.
  • 1/07/2023: 37 points in 38 minutes
  • 12/21/2022: 31 points in 34 minutes

Since the Kings are narrow favorites, the game script indicates the 20-year veteran should see plenty of minutes if the game remains close. The 234-point total also indicates the game will be high-scoring, which also helps the 4-time NBA Champion’s case.

James has scored at least 20 points in 13 straight outings and in 14 of his last 15 games. During the 2022-2023 regular season, the Akron, Ohio native scored 20 or more points in 50-of-55 (90.91%) of contests. When you include the past postseason, he eclipsed the 20-point mark in 65-of-71 games (91.55%).

Sportsbook Wire’s research showcases a career average of 29 points per game against the Kings for LBJ. Last regular season, James averaged 28.9 points per game in general.

BettingPros’ model predicts James to score 26.9 points, while Numberfire projects him at 23.8.
