We have never seen the Golden State Warriors down 2-0 in the Steph Curry era until now, but that is where the Sacramento Kings have them going into a pivotal Game 3 in the NBA playoffs. The Warriors must get it done without Draymond Green, who is suspended for one game after stomping on Domantas Sabonis in Game 2.
Prediction 1
Golden State Warriors -5.5
10/11 (-110)
Prediction 2
Steph Curry Over 4.5 Threes Made
100/133 (-133)
These odds from William Hill were correct at the time of writing.
Golden State Warriors vs Sacramento Kings – Game Predictions
Contents
The Warriors put one of the largest home-road splits in NBA history to test after going 33-8 at home and 11-32 on the road this season. Golden State is a 5.5-point home favorite in Game 3 after being a slight favorite on the road in Game 2.
Prediction 1: Golden State Warriors to Cover the Spread (-5.5)
The NBA playoffs started with a frenzy, but we saw some teams down in their series take care of business at home this week, including Milwaukee, Phoenix, and Memphis. Even without Draymond, this feels like a classic spot for the Warriors to bounce back at home where they play such better defense. It is not like the Kings blew them out in either game so far. The Warriors will not turn the ball over 20 times like in Game 2 and will find a way to get this series back within reach with a cover at home where they are 27-13-1 ATS (67.5%) – best in the NBA.
Prediction 2: Steph Curry Over 4.5 Made Threes
Curry did not shoot as well in Game 2 when he finished 9-of-21 from the field and 3-of-13 from three. But he has gone over 4.5 made threes in 30-of-58 games this season, so he does it more than half the time. He also shoots 45.3% from three at home compared to 40.6% on the road this season. Basically, we are looking at a big Golden State night with Curry coming through with a handful of threes. Nothing we have not see many times before from this team at home.
Warriors vs Kings Preview – Home Sweet Home?
This series still has a chance to go a full seven games because of how much better Golden State is at home. This series will really put to test the adage that “a series does not truly begin until the home team loses a game.” We will see if the Kings can continue their success on a short road trip.
Golden State Warriors News, Injuries, and Starting Lineups
With Draymond Green’s suspension, it stands that the Big Three have never lost a playoff series when they start every game. But the Warriors must move past that and focus on defending better after Sacramento, the No. 1 scoring offense, averaged 120 points at home to start this series.
Golden State Warriors Injury Report:
- Andre Iguodala (left wrist) is out
- Gary Payton II (illness) is questionable
- Jordan Poole (left ankle sprain) is questionable
- Ryan Rollins (right foot surgery) is out
- Andrew Wiggins (right shoulder soreness) is questionable
- Draymond Green (non-injury related) is out (suspended) for Game 3
Golden State Warriors Starting Lineup:
Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, and Kevon Looney.
Sacramento Kings News, Injuries, and Starting Lineups
The Kings are in great shape but could really use this road win while Green is suspended. But we should monitor Sabonis’ health after he was checked for a sternum contusion. The Kings are No. 25 in Defensive Rating, so we will see if the defense can hold up on the road. The Kings are 13-7 ATS (65%) as a road underdog, the third-best record in the league.
Sacramento Kings Injury Report:
- Matthew Dellavedova (finger) is out
- Domantas Sabonis (sternum) is questionable
Sacramento Kings Starting Lineup:
De’Aaron Fox, Kevin Huerter, Harrison Barnes, Keegan Murray, and Domantas Sabonis.
Warriors vs Kings Head to Head Record In 2023
After taking the first two games in this series, the Kings have evened the season series at 3-3. All but one of these games between these teams was decided by no more than 8 points.
