Brooklyn Nets vs Philadelphia 76ers Game 4 Prediction and Odds: 2023 NBA Playoffs

We could see the first sweep of these NBA playoffs if the Brooklyn Nets fail to win at home against the Philadelphia 76ers this Saturday. Brooklyn is still looking for its first win this season against the 76ers, who will be without Joel Embiid.

Brooklyn Nets vs Philadelphia 76ers – Game Predictions

The 76ers are still a 1.5-point road favorite in Game 4. Teams leading 3-0 in the first round of the NBA playoffs who are playing Game 4 on the road are 30-17 (.638) in such games.

Prediction 1: Brooklyn Nets to Cover the Spread (+1.5)

The Nets have continued to close the margin in each game of the series, and it is borderline absurd they did not cover the last two games. This spread is obviously the smallest of the series, but not having Embiid to deal with should help the Brooklyn offense. The defense has been good enough to win the last two games. It is hard to sweep any team in the NBA playoffs, so this is a good spot to count on the Nets to finally deliver a win over Philadelphia even if the chances of winning the series are still slim to none.

Prediction 2: Nic Claxton Over 12.5 Points

A lack of scoring from the supporting cast has been a big problem for Brooklyn in this series. Mikal Bridges and Spencer Dinwiddie are trying to do too much. Nic Claxton was ejected in Game 3 but not before he chipped in 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting. This was a huge change from the two games in Philadelphia where Claxton was awful with 5 combined points, including a scoreless Game 2. He has been that volatile, but over 12.5 points is a benchmark he clears about 50% of the time this season. With Embiid out weakening the frontcourt defense, look for Claxton to step up again and score over 12.5 points.

Nets vs 76ers Preview – Can the Nets Avoid the Sweep?

The Nets have failed to score 100 points in consecutive games for the first time since the first week of November. We will see if the offense can get going without the presence of Embiid for the 76ers.

Brooklyn Nets News, Injuries, and Starting Lineups

The 76ers were 2-8 in the regular season when failing to score 103 points, but they are 2-0 in this series doing so. That has to frustrate the Nets, who are doing a solid job on defense, but the offense has struggled to score on the 76ers. Mikal Bridges had 26 points on 26 shots in Game 3, and Spencer Dinwiddie was denied on a game-tying basket by a block by Embiid in the final 10 seconds. We will just have to see if the Nets can take advantage of Embiid’s absence in Game 4.

Brooklyn Nets Injury Report:

  • No injuries to report

Brooklyn Nets Starting Lineup:

Mikal Bridges, Spencer Dinwiddie, Cam Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Nic Claxton

Philadelphia 76ers News, Injuries, and Starting Lineups

The 76ers can take solace in knowing no team has ever blown a 3-0 lead in NBA playoff history. But Joel Embiid is reportedly out for this game with right knee soreness after a physical Game 3. He is expected to return to the team early in the week. James Harden will be back after getting ejected in Game 3, and Tyrese Maxey is coming off a hot game where he scored 25 points to play the hero.

Philadelphia 76ers Injury Report:

  • Joel Embiid (knee) is out
  • Danuel House Jr. (illness) is questionable

Philadelphia 76ers Starting Lineup:

James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, Paul Reed, P.J. Tucker.
