NBA opening-night schedule: no Eastern Conference teams playing
As tradition dictates on the opening night of the new season the NBA schedule sees 2 games being played. The first one is always a home fixture for last year’s champions, so they can raise their banner and receive their championship rings. This means that we’ll tip-off the 2023-24 NBA season in the mile-high city of Denver, Colorado on October 24th.

Game 1 Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Lakers
The first-time NBA champions Denver Nuggets will receive their rings in front of the team they swept in the West Conference finals the LA Lakers. Then the battle will begin and we’ll enjoy the likes of Nikola Jokić, Jamal Murray, LeBron James and Anthony Davis in action. What better way to start the new NBA season?
Game 2 Golden State Warriors vs Phoenix Suns
Later on, the plot thickens with KD going back to Golden State as a Sun and CP3 making his official Warriors’ debut against the team that snubbed him in free agency this summer. The star-studded cast of the two mighty Western powerhouses guarantees an exciting and high-scoring match. After all not every day 6 All-Star NBA players – Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Bradley Beal, Klay Thompson – take to the court in the same game.
Curious fact
Only for the 3rd time in NBA history, there will be no Eastern Conference team involved on opening night.
NBA Christmas Day lineup: the party starts on the East Coast
As the tradition dictates there will be 5 NBA matches on Christmas Day with the most popular franchise the New York Knicks always involved in those 5. The action begins on the shores of the Atlantic and the city that never sleeps to eventually ends in Denver, the home of the reigning champions, where snow and Christmas atmosphere are guaranteed. There will be 5 Eastern Conference and 5 Western Conference teams playing on Christmas Day. Here is what the NBA schedule for Christmas looks like:

Game 1 New York Knicks vs Milwaukee Bucks
The Knicks always play on Christmas Day as they are the most popular NBA franchise. This year’s home duel against arguably the best team in the East for the past 4 seasons the Bucks has the potential to be an electrifying affair. Giannis vs Brunson, who would want to miss that.?
Game 2 Miami Heat vs Philadelphia 76ers
The NBA Finalists Miami take to the floor next. They host the ambitious 76ers in another edition of the Jimmy Butler vs Joel Embiid show. Of course, come Christmas there might be more stars showing off in that matchup. Dame Lillard is still trying to force his way to Miami for once.
Game 3 Los Angeles Lakers vs Boston Celtics
No surprise here as the next game moves to the west coast and sees the greatest NBA rivalry in history write another chapter on the most important day of the NBA regular season. The Lakers vs Celtics duel have become the trademark of the NBA and on that festive day, we’ll be able to watch LeBron James vs Jayson Tatum, with both superstars supported by tons of talent too.
Game 4 Phoenix Suns vs Dallas Mavericks
Our penultimate destination according to the NBA schedule for Christmas is Phoenix, Arizona. The Suns will take on the Mavs in what promises to be the highest-scoring game of the night. We don’t have much doubt that the mighty clash of Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving vs. Kevin Durant/Devin Booker/Bradley Beal will produce a ridiculous amount of points.
Game 5 Denver Nuggets vs Golden State Warriors
The Christmas celebrations will finish in the home of the champions Denver. They will take on the Dubs army from Golden State. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson vs. Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray can’t be a bad matchup for sure.
There you have it folks. The opening night on October 24th and the highly anticipated biggest Christmas Day showdown have their NBA schedules confirmed. In a matter of days, we will also know the Play-In Tournament schedule and we’ll update you on that too.
