Miami Heat vs Chicago Bulls Prediction and Odds: 2023 NBA Playoffs

The Chicago Bulls are one win away in the Play-in tournament from earning the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Miami Heat must rebound from Tuesday’s ugly home loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

These odds from William Hill were correct at the time of writing.

Miami Heat vs Chicago Bulls – Game Predictions

The Bulls (40-42) can shake off a disappointing regular season by winning a fourth game this year against Miami to enter the playoffs and face the top-seeded Bucks in the first round. The Heat (44-38) were the No. 7 seed in the regular season, but Miami must avoid dropping both games at home in the tournament to extend this season.

Prediction 1: Chicago Bulls to Cover the Spread (+5.5)

Think Charles Barkley will bet Shaq another billion dollars that Miami wins this game like he did before the Atlanta game? The Bulls can complete a 4-0 sweep of the Heat this year. The Bulls have won three in a row while Miami has the worst spread record (30-50-3) in the NBA this season, covering just 37.5% of the time. Miami only covers 35% of the time at home and 31.4% as a home favorite. Chicago is a solid 16-12-1 ATS (57.1%) as a road underdog. The road underdogs are 4-0 ATS and 3-1 SU in the Play-in tournament.

Prediction 2: Over 208.5 Points

Miami is the lowest-scoring team in the NBA (109.5 points per game) and ranks No. 2 in points allowed. But the first three meetings between these teams all hit at least 212 points. Miami’s last six games have all easily gone over 208.5 points. Since March, 18 of Chicago’s 21 games have gone over 208.5 points, including the 113-99 win over the Heat on March 18.

Heat vs Bulls Preview – Can Miami Salvage the Season?

The pressure should be on Miami to not go 0-2 at home in the Play-in tournament. The 116-105 loss to Atlanta on Tuesday was embarrassing after the Heat finished 3-1 against that team in the regular season. The Bulls are living on borrowed time after a 19-point comeback in Toronto.

Miami Heat

The Heat better hope Kyle Lowry (knee) can play after he was listed as questionable. He was the team’s best player against Atlanta with 33 points off the bench, including six threes. The Heat did not get “Playoff Jimmy” as Jimmy Butler was just 6-of-19 from the field. Bam Adebayo also has to step up after scoring just 12 points on Tuesday. The Heat were crushed in the rebounding battle, losing 63-39 to Atlanta. Miami is plus-3 in rebounds against Chicago this year despite going 0-3 in those games.

Chicago Bulls

The Bulls (40-42) are just the No. 10 seed, but they rallied from a 19-point deficit in the third quarter in Toronto thanks to the Raptors missing 18 free throws. We will see if DeMar DeRozan’s daughter travels to Miami to scream at the Heat players when they shoot their free throws. But the Bulls will have to play better after going 7-of-26 from three and losing the rebound battle by 14 boards. DeRozan has been great against the Heat this season, averaging 28.3 points on 64.7% shooting.

Heat vs Bulls Head to Head Record In 2023

The Bulls are 3-0 against the Heat this season after going 0-4 a year ago. Every win has been by at least 8 points too. The last meeting was March 18, a 113-99 win by the Bulls where DeRozan had 24 points and tied his season high with 10 assists to lead the way.
