Tour de France White Jersey Standings

For a good few years now the 2-time Tour de France Yellow Jersey winner Tadje Pogacar has been dominating this particular category of the General Classification. So far, the 2023 Tour is no exception and Pogacar looks to have all but won the white jersey yet again already. His lead over his nearest pursuer is over 4 minutes already and this is only likely to grow further as the Tour enters week 3.

Here are the top 5 riders in the Tour de France White Jersey Classification after stage 17:

1) T. Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) 68h05’26’’

2) C. Rodriguez Cano (Ineos Grenadiers) +04’26’

3) F. Gall (AG2R Citroen Team) +08’36’’

4) T. Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) +49’04’’

5) S. Jensen (Lidl-Trek) +01h43’53’’

Ineos lost the unique chance to place 2 riders in the top 3 of this category though. Both Rodriguez Cano and the British rider Pidcock are in the top 4 but an awful day for Pidcock during stage 17 saw him lose nearly 40 minutes on the stage-winner Gall.

Tour de France White Jersey Odds

Here are the top 5 young riders placed based on their odds to become the 2023 Tour de France Best Young Rider:

Tadej Pogacar 1/5 (1.20) was 1/12 (1.08)

Carlos Rodriguez 9/2 (5.50) was 7/1 (8.00)

Felix Gall 7/1 (8.00) was 25/1 (26.00)

Tom Pidcock 200/1 (201.00) was 20/1 (21.00)

Matthieu Burgaudeau 500/1 (501.00) no change

It’s obvious from these odds that Tadje Pogacar is considered to all but have won this particular category already. Still, could there be an upset?

Tour de France White Jersey: Our Prediction

Obviously Tadje Pogacar is our favourite, as well as everyone else’s, to win the Tour de France white jersey this year. We certainly back him to do so and to do it in style with a large margin over his nearest pursuer.

Still, if we presume that for some reason, a crash or an accident, for example, Pogacar fails to finish the Tour then we fancy Rodriguez Cano’s chances. The young Ineos rider just achieved his first Tour de France stage win in the Alps. He’s having a healthy lead over Gall and Pidcock already so for anyone seeking a surprise white jersey winner we will suggest don’t look beyond Rodriguez Cano.
