Zalgiris Kaunas vs Valencia prediction and odds

Both Zalgiris and Valencia made strong starts to the new 2023-24 EuroLeague season and after 4 rounds the two teams have identical 3-1 records. The big difference is that Zalgiris played 3 of their 4 games so far on the road, while all of Valencia’s 3 wins were achieved at home. Which team will continue their strong start to the season now with another win?

Zalgiris vs Valencia – game predictions

Below are our Zalgiris vs Valencia predictions. You can find more EuroLeague predictions here.

Prediction 1: Over 151.5 points @ 1/2 (1.50)

Last season both clashes between the teams went comfortably over 152 total points. In fact, all of the last 6 H2Hs produced more than 155 points. Also, 3 of Zalgiris’s 4 EuroLeague matches so far this season went over 160 points. The Lithuanians saw 15 of their last 19 home games also cover that spread so we feel confident this will happen again.

Prediction 2: Brady Manek under 4.5 rebounds @ 8/11 (1.73)

Our second prediction looks at Zalgiris’s forward Brady Manek. So far, this season Manek has been used only off the bench. He had a monster game in the last round with 17 points and 14 rebounds. However, this was an unexpected display as Manek grabbed just 6 rebounds in the first 3 matches combined. He never had more than 3 rebounds in a game in those 3 matches.

Manek might see his minutes increase after his great display in the last match but he still won’t be a starter. This is why we don’t think he will go for more than 4 rebounds in consecutive matches.

These odds were correct at the time of writing.

Zalgiris vs Valencia preview – will the Lithuanians continue shooting lights-out?

Both Zalgiris and Valencia have been shooting the ball very well so far. Zalgiris have the best shooting percentage from beyond the arc in the entire EuroLeague and the hosts have shown lethal skill so far.

Zalgiris news, injuries, and starting lineups

Zalgiris reached the last 8 last season and it seems they target even better things this campaign. The only defeat so far was on the road against defending champions Real Madrid. Zalgiris won their other 3 games, even though only once so far they played at home.

Last Friday they reacted to the defeat vs Real with a decisive 99-82 victory vs Baskonia. Zalgiris shot a stupendous 66.7% from beyond the arc in this match, hitting 14 of 21 threes.

Veteran Smits is playing very well at both ends of the floor so far, while Keenan Evans is becoming more and more assertive with each passing match after fully recovering in September from a serious knee injury that kept him out for months.

Zalgiris know how to mix the pace and they are a very dangerous team on transition.

Valencia news, injuries, and starting lineups

Valencia are one of the pleasant surprises so far with their 3-1 start. All 3 wins were achieved at home though and Valencia lost their only away game so far. Last Friday they lost 73-77 on their visit to Anadolu Efes.

Valencia are very good at home but last season they achieved only 3 away wins and it seems the problems on the road continue.

The situation is not helped by the many injury issues. Right now 4 players that are part of the rotation are listed as unavailable or doubtful. The impressive in the early rounds Ojeleye is the latest casualty. He travels with the team though and could be patched up on time.

Valencia Injury Report:

Jared Harper SG – doubtful

Martin Hermannsson SG – ruled out

Xabier Lopez-Arostegui SF – doubtful

Semi Ojeleye SF – doubtful

Valencia Starting Lineup:

Chris Jones, Nathan Reuvers, Kassius Robertson, Semi Ojeleye, Brandon Davies
