EuroLeague results today:

Today’s 4 fixtures produced plenty of drama and 3 road wins. Here are all the EuroLeague scores from today.

Zalgiris vs Valencia 72-87

It was the awful first-half display that saw Zalgiris suffer a 72-87 home defeat vs Valencia. The visitors led 52-30 at halftime after winning the opening 2 periods. Zalgiris rallied and won the next 2 quarters but that was nowhere near enough to reduce the huge deficit.

The big difference was the shooting from beyond the arc. As we predicted the team with the better percentage was going to win and that’s what happened. Zalgiris shot only 25.0% from distance, while Valencia shot 42.1%.

Lyon vs Virtus Bologna 84-87

The most thrilling contest of the day was in Lyon where the hosts were close to securing their first win. However, the experience of Virtus Bologna in the end saw them grabbing an 87-84 victory.

Lyon played well as a team but veteran Marco Belinelli scored some vital baskets when the game was on a knife edge and his 16 points in 23 minutes of play were the main reason why Virtus won this match.

Panathinaikos vs Baskonia 95-81

The only home win today was a convincing one. Panathinaikos improved to 2-3 with a blowout victory vs Baskonia. The game wasn’t decided until the final 10 minutes with PAO holding a lead since halftime but not increasing to more than 5 points in the first three periods.

It was Mathias Lessort who took over in the final 10 minutes and he single-handedly crushed the entire Baskonia team with his aggression inside the paint. Lessort finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds, 7 of which were offensive.

Due to injuries, Baskonia had only 8 active players in this match and this shortened rotation prevented them from being fresh late on, which proved costly.

Bayern Munich vs Fenerbahce 67-76

The final game of round 5 saw Fenerbahce continuing their rise up the standings with a hard-fought 76-67 away win vs Bayern. This was a game of hard defending and poor shooting. At halftime, only 2 points were splitting the sides but then Fenerbahce held Bayern to only 9 points in the third period and this was what brought the Turks the win.
