Lyon-Villeurbanne vs Partizan – game predictions
Contents
Given the odds, Partizan is the favourite to win this game, but Lyon-Villeurbanne has a quality roster that can respond.
Prediction 1: Partizan to win @ 1/2 (1.50)
Zeljko Obradovic is still considered the best coach in Europe but Partizan does not look good at the start of the season. He is known as someone who puts a lot of pressure on his players and that will be the case in this game as well. Partizan started 0-3 last season and Obradovic does not want to get in a hole again. Lyon-Villeurbanne has a couple of solid players but only Nando de Colo is playing consistently well. Partizan has a better system and they will make the difference in this game with a strong start and tough defense.
Prediction 2: Aleksa Avramovic over 9.5 points @ 17/20 (1.85)
Avramovic made a name for himself at the World Cup being one of the best players for the Serbian national team. Partizan has him and Ognjen Jaramaz at the point guard position and it seems like only Avramovic is ready for the challenge that the EuroLeague brings. He scored 24 points in 26 minutes of play in the first round against Maccabi on 8-of-9 shooting from the field. That efficiency is hard to repeat but Avramovic has put his game to another level and will have no problem scoring at least 10 points against Lyon-Villeurbanne.
How good is Partizan this season?
With the return of head coach Zeljko Obradovic in Belgrade, a new era for Partizan began. They got back in the EuroLeague and managed to invest enough money to become a legit contender in the competition. They almost made it to the Final Four last season, and anything but that would be considered a failure this season. Still, they have shown many vulnerabilities at the beginning of the season, losing the ABA League Super Cup and the opening round game against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Partizan lost the opening game in Tel Aviv against Maccabi which is not a big deal but coach Obradovic has a lot of reasons to worry about, since his team was not even competitive in that game. Partizan missed Mathias Lessort who was a huge presence in the paint on both ends of the floor, and with the French center gone, things do not look promising for the Serbian team.
