His father Sasa Doncic is Serbian, his mother Mirjam Poterbin is Slovenian, and Doncic was also offered to play for Spain since he moved there at a very young age. They finished fourth, and Doncic was named the best player of the tournament. In his first game at the Olympics, Doncic scored 48 points in a in a 118–100 win over Argentina, tying the second-most points in a single game at the Olympics.
