Queen Mother Champion Chase Tips 2023

On day two of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival, we will all get to witness one of the most thrilling races of this four day period. Of course, we are referencing the Queen Mother Champion Chase – a Grade One Nation Hunt Steeplechase event. This event was first held in 1959, and it has entertained millions ever since. And given its status, the race is expected to have a prize pool of £400,000 for 2023.

This comes hand in hand with a requirement for participants to jump over 13 fences while covering a distance of around 3.2km. Furthermore, for those wishing to watch the race, we can confirm that it is scheduled for 15:30 on Wednesday, March 15th. Anyway, that’s all you need to know about this epic event, so now let’s turn our attention to the Queen Mother Champion Chase odds and tips – as promised.

Queen Mother Champion Chase Odds – Most Recent Updates

The lineup going into the Queen Mother Champion Chase for Cheltenham Festival 2023 is pretty interesting. Last year’s winner, Eergumene, is second-favourite as things currently stand in the odds department, though the odds might be different depending on the bookmakers. He has a price of 3.00, which has been narrowly bested by Edwardstone at a price of 2.75. However, if you want to see the scope for the top five favourites, we’ve got them listed for you here:

  • Edwardstone – 2.75 odds
  • Energumene – 3.00 odds
  • Editor Du Gite – 6.00 odds
  • Gentleman De Mee – 9.00 odds
  • Blue Lord – 13.00 odds

Following on from our quick run-through of the top two favourites, you’ve got Editor Du Gite, Gentleman De Mee, and Blue Lord. Going from lowest odds to highest, it’s clear that Editor Du Gite is third-favourite with odds of 6.00. The price for this horse has recently lowered significantly due to success in a G1 on the same course in January 2023.

As for Gentleman De Mee, he also comes into the Queen Mother Champion Chase after a G1 victory in Leopardstown – beating Blue Lord in the process by 7 lengths. So as displayed here, the Queen Mother Champion Chase odds for horses 3-5 are understandably quite tight. Yet the two clear favourites for the race are Edwardstone and Energumene, as things stand.

Our Shortlist of Queen Mother Champion Chase Tips

If we were to pick an outright winner for the Queen Mother Champion Chase, we would shoot for Editor Du Gite at a price of 6.00. Sure, this horse isn’t one of the top two favourites, which is why the value is so good. However, the reason for this pick is that Editor Du Gite recently won the Grade One event at Cheltenham in January 2023. Not only that, but he managed to beat both Edwardstone and Energumene in the process. Needless to say, that’s a considerable victory, and it’s one that has led us to this choice.

With that said, we’ve got a couple of other Queen Mother Champion Chase tips to share with you today. As an each-way pick, we see real value in Blue Lord, especially with his ante-post odds of 13.00. For clarity, this horse hasn’t finished outside of the top three in any race that he finished since September 2019 – how about that for consistency?

And finally, as we’ve done for other events at Cheltenham, our tricast prediction would have to be Editor Du Gite in 1st, Energumene in 2nd, followed by Blue Lord in 3rd.
