Rennes v Paris Saint-Germain predicted lineups ahead of the big game this weekend in Ligue 1. Both sides finished in the top four last season so this will be a real test for Luis Enrique’s side who were humbled in midweek by Newcastle.

PSG still have a number of selection issues as they head to Rennes in a week when Randal Kolo Muani, Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi and Layvin Kurzawa were all punished for their role in offensive chants following the 4-0 win against Marseille a fortnight ago.
Rennes
Rennes come into this game as one of just two teams in Ligue 1 who remain unbeaten. However 5 of their 7 matches have been drawn and they’ve not fully convinced since hammering Metz 5-1 on the opening weekend.
Thursday night saw them play well at Villarreal in the Europa League, but still lose the game 1-0. They rotated a number of players in that match but the likes of Nemanja Matic and Amine Gouri should return to the starting eleven for this showdown against the defending champions.
They don’t have any major injury problems heading into this game. However Martin Terrier and Arnaud Kalimuendo are still on the road to recovery following injuries and are unlikely to be ready to start here, despite both featuring off the bench in Spain on Thursday.
Rennes predicted lineup
Mandanda, Truffert, Theate, Wooh, Omari, Assignon, Bourigeaud, Matic, Gouiri, Kalimuendo, Blas
Paris Saint-Germain
After a summer of great change it has been a bumpy start for Luis Enrique and his team don’t take great form into this game. They were held by Clermont Foot to a goalless draw last time out in the league before a heavy 4-1 defeat at Newcastle where PSG fell short despite having 74% possession.
Wholesale changes are not expected here despite that loss. Luis Enrique is trying to build a team which features a large number of new players and he may opt for continuity rather than risk further rocking the boat. That being said, Vitinha could come in for Randal Kolo Muani in perhaps the only change from the trip to Tyneside.
Presnel Kimpembe remains an injury doubt while Marco Asensio is definitely out. Lee Kang-In is away on international duty with South Korea at the Asian Games.
Paris Saint-Germain predicted lineup
Donnarumma, Lucas Hernandez, Skriniar, Marquinhos, Hakimi, Ugarte, Vitinha, Zaire-Emery, Mbappe, Goncalo Ramos, Dembele
Rennes v Paris Saint-Germain predicted lineup – featured duel: Mbappe v Assignon
There is even greater onus on Kylian Mbappe to lead the PSG attack this season after the departures of Leo Messi and Neymar. Despite a turbulent summer, the 24 year old has hit the ground running with 7 goals in 6 appearances in Ligue 1. He’s averaging one every 62 minutes which is a phenomenal strike-rate.
He’s likely to operate on the left of the front three with Goncalo Ramos operating centrally here. That should pit him up against Lorenz Assignon who is the right back for Rennes. It’ll be a real test for the 23 year old who was only really a fringe player last season, but has started all seven of the club’s league matches so far this term.
Will Ousmane Dembele play against Rennes?
The French winger was one of four PSG players to be handed suspended one match bans this week. However they will all still be available for this game despite the punishment which is unlikely to result in any of the players missing matches unless they offend again.
Rennes v Paris Saint-Germain predicted lineup – The Final Word
PSG clearly have some teething problems under new management and with a host of new players in the team. Those are unlikely to be fixed overnight so Rennes have every chance of extending their unbeaten start to the season.
