According to reports in France, Manchester United are in talks with PSG and Neymar’s representatives about a move to Old Trafford this summer. L’Équipe, a reputable news organisation in France, are reporting that the Manchester club are in advanced negotiations with PSG about the move and that they are confident of striking a deal.
The report also goes on to say that Neymar’s Brazil teammate, Casemiro, has been in touch with the winger about a move to United. It is said that Casemiro has launched a charm offensive and is determined to convince Neymar that a move to Old Trafford is the best thing for him as he looks for a way out of PSG this summer.
The reports of such a blockbuster transfer come just days after Ex-Manchester City player, Elano, told Neymar to switch to move the blue half of Manchester. According to Elano, Neymar should jump at the opportunity to play under Pep Guardiola should the opportunity arise.
Is Neymar going to leave PSG?
With speculation around Neymar’s future in the French capital growing by the day, it seems clear that the Brazlian’s time in France is coming towards an end. He has been injured since the start of March and won’t kick a ball again until the summer so it isn’t inconceivable that he has played his last game in a Paris Saint Germain shirt.
Since making the move from Barcelona in 2017 for a record fee of £200m, Neymar has enjoyed a turbulent time in Paris. Although he has helped the team lift four league titles and five domestic cups, he has fallen short in the Champions League – the trophy he was signed to win.

His attitude at times has also left a lot to be desired and it has seen the club’s passionate supporters against him on several occasions. He has often been booed at home games, particularly at the business end of the seasons when he has been perceived to have gone missing – either literally via injury or figuratively via performance or lack of it.
His contract is up in two years and at the age of 31, this could be the last time for the club to recoup a decent amount of money for him. With Lionel Messi also set to leave this summer, and Kylian Mbappe’s future also up in the air, this could be the summer that PSG tear it up and start all over again as their pursuit for a maiden Champions League title continues.
How would Neymar fit in at Manchester United?
Based on their transfer activity over the past ten years, Neymar seems like the perfect fit for Manchester United. He is past his best, well known for his lack of work ethic, and looking for a big pay day. However, Erik Ten Hag is working hard to rid that culture from United so a move for Neymar would feel like a step in the wrong direction, despite his obvious talent.
What’s more, United are stacked in the left-wing department. Marcus Rashford has enjoyed a fabulous season, Alejandro Garnacho looks like a superstar in waiting and they are still persisting with Jadon Sancho. Spending big money on Neymar when they have glaring holes in other parts of the squad would be incredibly negligent.
Finally, the club is up for sale so it’s highly unlikely that United’s transfer committee even has a budget to work with as things stand. As a result, this story should be treated with caution even if it is potentially groundbreaking news.
