Manchester City striker Erling Haaland continues to shine in blue, with the young Norwegian now on 48 goals in all competitions this season.
The 22-year-old has surpassed all expectations since his summer move from Borussia Dortmund, with City perhaps still not quite believing their luck in winning the race for his signature.
Haaland is rapidly approaching 50 goals for the season after netting in his club’s 1-1 Champions League quarter-final second leg draw with Bayern Munich, having also missed a penalty at the Allianz Arena.
Manchester City star a ‘top goalscorer’
Haaland has unsurprisingly earned huge praise for his efforts so far, with the formidable forward driving Manchester City into the last four of the Champions League with 12 goals from his eight matches.
The Manchester outfit will now face Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the competition next month, with Italian rivals Inter and AC Milan meeting in the other last four clash. Haaland’s efforts continue to dazzle many, including former Manchester City defender Steve Howey.
“I don’t think we’ve seen him hit one from 30 yards because he scores goalscorer’s goals,” said Howey, as quoted by the official Manchester City website. “He can be out of the game for 90 minutes, but he will always be there at the right time.
“Not only is the technique there, but also concentration. It would be easy to lash at the goal he scored against Bayern in the first leg, but he didn’t. He’s a top, top goalscorer and we’ve seen games he’s not influenced massively but he’s still scored two or even three.”
Goater full of praise for Manchester City ace
Manchester City are also into the last four of the FA Cup, where they face Championship outfit Sheffield United at the Etihad on Saturday.
Haaland may get a well-deserved rest by Pep Guardiola, with young striker Julian Alvarez representing a more than capable replacement. But the Norwegian is, of course, also flying high in the competition with three goals from his two FA Cup matches.
The striker also netted once in the League Cup earlier in the campaign, while his phenomenal feats in the Premier League have helped Manchester City push Arsenal for top spot in the table.
The Manchester outfit are now just four points behind the Gunners, and importantly have a game in hand over Mikel Arteta’s side.
The two clubs will go head-to-head in a highly-anticipated clash at the Etihad on Wednesday, with the Premier League title potentially going to the winner.
Haaland has hit a stunning 32 goals from his 28 Premier League matches, with his feats in front of goal blowing away Manchester City legend Shaun Goater, who has no idea just how many records the Norwegian will break while at the club.
“He’s absolutely phenomenal – I can’t keep up with counting, he just seems to score goal after goal,” said Goater. “A lot of times there are brilliant assists, but he is always in the right place.
“He loves big games. He’s just created his own conversation with the number of goals he’s scoring. I love how he has done it and the conversations on how many records he might get.”
