Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has shared how he is feeling ahead of the Champions League final.
The young Norwegian looks set to play a major role as the Manchester outfit take on Italian giants Inter Milan in the final of this season’s tournament.
The two clubs go head to head at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday, with Inter chasing their fourth European Cup as Man City chase their first.
Haaland living UCL dream
Haaland has already helped fire Man City to double glory this season, with Pep Guardiola’s men lifting the Premier League trophy and the FA Cup.
They pursued Arsenal all the way in the former before overtaking them in the final stages, with City then edging past their fierce rivals Manchester United in the latter.
They are now chasing a fine treble, with star striker Haaland expecting a tough test against the Italian side.
“It will be special,” said Haaland, as quoted by the official Man City website. “I have always dreamed of playing in the Champions League final and it will be an honour to play in this match.
“But there’s also a job to do. We have had an incredible season, but we have to finish it in the best way possible. I know we are all going to give it everything to win this final.
“We will have to be at our best against a very good Inter Milan side and we’re excited to get out onto the pitch.”
Haaland key to Man City success
Haaland has been key to Man City’s success this season, with the Norwegian banging in a phenomenal 52 goals in all competitions.
A total of 12 of those strikes have come in the Champions League, with that tally placing him top of this season’s scoring list. It would take a brave man to bet against the striker adding to that tally on Saturday night.
Haaland has, of course, been helped by his world-class attacking teammates, including the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden.
And the striker is fully aware of the exciting project available to him when he made the switch from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
“I was excited for the challenge,” added Haaland. “I knew I was joining a team where I would have many chances to score goals and make an impact.
“Luckily, that has been what I have been able to do. I have really loved my first season here in Manchester.
“My targets are to try to help the team lift trophies at the end of the season by scoring goals. I know that if I can score goals and support the team then it will help everyone achieve their goals at the end of the season.”
His feats in the final third really have been incredible, and while he has had plenty of help, the forward has also carved out several opportunities for himself before firing the ball past the unfortunate goalkeeper in between the sticks.
It’s been a sensational campaign for Man City, with a third trophy now on the cards if they can do the business against Inter Milan this weekend.
