Attacking midfielder Brennan Jonson is one of Nottingham Forest’s top assets. The 22-year-old is a key cog in coach Steve Cooper’s strategy, so if any Premier League side would want to have him on their side during the 2023/24 campaign, they’ll have to send Forest an offer they simply can’t refuse.
Brennan took part in 38 Premier League games last season, scoring on eight occasions, assisting thrice, and getting booked five times. He’s a player that can do it all – score, create, and dictate play. It’s no wonder why his market value is set at a whopping €38m. However, even that staggering sum won’t tempt Nottingham’s board to sell.
With the transfer clock ticking relentlessly, what does the future hold for 22-year-old Brennan? Will his Nottingham Forest story continue, or is there a secret admirer who wants to poach the much-admired attacking midfielder? Will the Brenan Johnson transfer saga be prolonged as much as Romelu Lukaku’s potential transfer? Or is the fan-favorite at City Ground looking to put an end to all of this sooner rather than later? Find out what the future holds for the talented player.

Tottenham – 1/1
With Harry Kane’s insane €120m transfer taking him to Munich, Tottenham’s treasury is full and money are ready to be spent wisely. Spurs already signed much-admired midfielder James Maddison on a €40m deal, which is nothing compared to what he brings to the table. With two goals and an assist since the start of the campaign, Maddison is proving to be a valuable asset at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Rumors have it that Spurs are preparing a massive €50m bid for Forest’s Johnson, but is that enough to tempt Nottingham to let go of their star player?
To stay at Nottingham Forest – 7/4
As we mentioned in the introduction part of this article, there’s very little time for Premier League clubs to negotiate Brennan Johnson’s transfer. The transfer window for the Premier League closes on the 1st of September at 11 PM, which is only a couple of days away. The likelihood of any team processing this potential deal in such a short period of time is very low.
Brennan Johnson himself isn’t that eager to move either. Coach Steve Cooper has faith in him, and the fact that Brennan made 38 appearances for Forest last season is a confirmation of our words. It seems that the 22-year-old will most likely spend the 2023/24 campaign defending the red jersey again.
Chelsea – 10/1
American Todd Boehly has spent over €1b in transfer fees since he took charge of business at Stamford Bridge two years ago. Plenty of players came and went but very few made a name for themselves with the Blues from London. If Brennan Johnson is to leave City Ground, he’ll probably head south.
Chelsea may lack results on the pitch, but you have to give it to Todd Boehly – the team knows how to close a deal. With over 10 new signings before the end of the transfer window, can Brennan Johnson be the latest player to boost coach Mauricio Pochettino’s side? The chances seem bleak but Chelsea definitely have the financial capacity to pull off such a deal.
Brentford – 12/1
Chelsea, Tottenham, and Brentford are the only realistic candidates for Brennan’s signature this season. The bookies have the Bees as the 2nd-most likely team to sign Nottingham Forest’s attacking midfielder, as the team can’t possibly compete with American businessman Boehly.
However, what coach Thomas Frank can provide in return is a key role on the team. And stability is nothing that Chelsea offers these days.
Nottingham Forest already turned down a whopping £35m for Brennan Johnson’s services back in July. But with a couple of more days left on the transfer window, there’s still time for the Bees to give Forest enough reasons to let Johnson go.
