Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans looks set to leave the Foxes this summer. But who will snap up the Belgian international?
Many top European clubs are reportedly showing an interest. And Champions League football may just be the clincher in securing his services. Tielemans has seven goals and four assists in all competitions this season.
It’s been a hugely frustrating campaign for Leicester. They currently sit 14th in the Premier League. They also recently lost to Roma in the Europa Conference League semi-finals.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are now seven games without a win. While they look to be well safe from the drop, only eight points keep them away from the relegation zone.
Their saving grace is games in hand. But such poor form could see some of their top players seek a higher level of football next season. And Tielemans could well be one of the first to leave. But where will he go?

Here are four potential destinations for the 25-year-old:
The Gunners are reportedly leading the race for his signature. Mikel Arteta will want to strengthen all over this summer. But midfield could be an area that he will look to reinforce first, given their possession-based style of play.
Mohamed Elneny has seemingly won over his manager in recent times. But the boss will want plenty of options, particularly if Champions League football is secured. Incidentally, that could be the key to landing Tielemans.
Many reports, however, suggest that Real Madrid will be the first to pounce if Arsenal fail to land fourth spot. The Spanish outfit recently won another La Liga title, but their ageing midfield won’t last forever.
Veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos may need replacing very soon. Casemiro meanwhile has only a few years left at the top of his game. Carlo Ancelotti could, therefore, turn to Tielemans. His passing abilities could fit in perfectly at the Bernabeu.
It’s no secret that many Liverpool fans want to see a midfielder arrive this summer. Thiago and Fabinho are regular starters, but who plays alongside them? Jordan Henderson has been limited in recent times, while Naby Keita remains an enigma most weeks.
There have, however, been criticisms regarding the Leicester player’s stamina. His supposed lack of effort when chasing down the ball certainly wouldn’t go down well at Anfield. However, as reported by Amazon Prime Video Sport, only three players were covering more distance than Tielemans not so long ago in the Premier League.
A major squad overhaul will soon take place at Manchester United. Several players will leave the club this summer. And plenty of funds will be given to incoming boss Erik ten Hag to replace them. While all areas need strengthening, midfield will be particularly examined.
One added bonus is the Belgian’s versatility. He can occupy a central midfield role, which fits in well with Ten Hag’s 4-3-3 system. But the manager has also used a 4-4-2 diamond. Tielemans is more than capable of playing in the holding midfield role in that system.
