Aurelien Tchouameni once again stole the headlines in Ligue 1 this weekend. The Monaco midfielder netted twice as his side defeated Lille 2-1.
With Monaco continuing to rise up the Ligue 1 table, their star asset’s price tag will also continue to rise.
His impressive displays this season have caught the eye of many top European teams. Liverpool have recently been linked with the France international.
But the Reds could now be in a battle with old rivals Manchester United. Incoming manager Erik ten Hag could turn to him in the club’s major rebuild this summer.

Where would Aurelien Tchouameni play at Man Utd?
The midfielder is just 22, but he’s been a central figure for Monaco this season. He has made 48 appearances in all competitions. That began all the way back at the start of August.
Things started badly for the French side. They failed to qualify for the Champions League, instead going into the Europa League group stages. Tchouameni did, however, find the back of the net in those early qualifying stages.
And after his brace at the weekend, the youngster has five goals to his name this season. Scoring goals is, however, far from his main role on the pitch at Monaco. The situation would be the same in Manchester.
Ten Hag has been experimenting with a 4-4-2 diamond during his tenure at Ajax. But that usage is rare, with his 4-3-3 system dominating his time there.
It remains to be seen whether or not the manager will take his 4-3-3 system to Old Trafford. That could have initial complications for many players. If signed, Tchouameni would also be implicated.
He has had help in his defensive midfield role this season. Monaco have largely opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Tchouameni playing alongside Youssouf Fofana. The former would most certainly have to play in the position alone if Ten Hag turns to his favoured 4-3-3.
But one major bonus is that the youngster has also played in central midfield. It is, therefore, not an alien position to the France international. Such versatility would be welcomed by Ten Hag.
But with this strength comes a weakness. The 22-year-old’s tenacity is exactly what Man Utd supporters want. But he has 11 yellow cards and one red this season. Such cards have forced him to miss three games through suspension.
Which players could leave Man Utd this summer?
There are a number of high-profile exits that could take place at Old Trafford this summer. Paul Pogba could lead such exits. Fellow midfielders Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic are also set to leave.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future meanwhile remains up in the air. Jesse Lingard is another player who could be on his way.
Such moves will definitely free up both space and finances for new faces. Could Tchouameni be one of the first names in? Passion and pride are seemingly lacking on the Old Trafford pitch, as well as talent. The young Monaco star could help fill this unwanted gap.
