Nathan Aspinall vs Jonny Clayton – Match Predictions
Contents
The darts predictions for this match come from the top half of the draw with the winner going on to meet either Michael van Gerwen or Chris Dobey. After winning last week in Germany, Clayton can put some huge pressure on Aspinall for a top-four finish with a win.
Prediction 1: Aspinall To Win
There was some pressure on Nathan Aspinall last week to get some kind of result and he came through with a quarter-final victory over Chris Dobey. But he then fell in the semi-finals to Michael Smith. But that was the seventh semi-final in nine rounds of action for The Asp this term. It suggests that he may just have enough to grind out the victory in this one. He’s been by far the more consistent of the two.
Prediction 2: Aspinall -1.5 Handicap
We are going to back up the first of our darts predictions for this match, by giving Aspinall a slender handicap line to cover. This has the look of being a tight match and it’s one that Aspinall really needs to dig deep and win as well. Sitting in fourth place, Aspinall holds a three-point lead over Clayton in the race for a top-four finish. Given his track record this season, his consistency has to be backed.
Nathan Aspinall and Jonny Clayton Latest Form and Performances
Ahead of this exciting Night 10 match from Birmingham, the result of which could have a big say in the Premier League standings, we look at some of the current form.
Can Aspinall’s Consistency Prevail
Aspinall has a good track record of making it past the first match of the night. He’s done it on all but two occasions this season. The Asp remains the only player in the top six without having won a round of action this season though. He’s currently on a W8 L9 season record in the league.
Clayton Looks To Build On Big Success
Jonny Clayton came out of nowhere last week in Germany to win Round 9 of the Premier League. It was a fantastic result for him, beating Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith. That was impressive form but he then followed it up with a disappointing early exit in the International Open on the weekend.
Nathan Aspinall vs Jonny Clayton Head to Head
The head-to-head is in favour of Clayton who has won the last three meetings between the two players. One of those was back in February in this season’s Premier League. Clayton is undefeated with a W2 D1 record in three previous Premier League clashes with Aspinall.2
