Michael Smith vs Chris Dobey Prediction and Odds – Premier League Darts Night 8

Chris Dobey was one of the stars of the Darts Premier League show last week as he caused upsets on his way to the Final. Will he be able to get back in the groove on Night 8 as he once again opens against Michael Smith?

These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.

Michael Smith vs Chris Dobey – Match Predictions

In last week’s quarter-finals, Chris Dobey shrugged off some underdog odds in Premier League darts betting to post a win over Michael Smith. Will things go that way again, or will he meet a pumped-up Smith who is out for some revenge?

Prediction 1: Smith -1.5 Handicap

Michael Smith has slipped out in the quarter-finals in two of the last three rounds of action. Bully Boy will know that he needs to get back in the groove and tap into the kind of form that took him to the Night 6 Final. If he puts last week’s Night 7 result behind him, he still looks like a sound option to pull through.

Prediction 2: Smith 6-4 correct score

We don’t see a wide margin between the two on the night. There hasn’t been much to choose between the two of them in the last three meetings. So we can lean towards another tight match in terms of the scoreboard. We are going for the Smith win and backing up the first of our darts predictions, we plump for Smith to reverse the scoreline from last week’s meeting.

Michael Smith and Chris Dobey Latest Form and Performances

The winner of this match, the last of the Night 8 quarter-finals, will meet either Gerwyn Price or Jonny Clayton in the semifinals in Newcastle. Who will make it through this first challenge of the night’s draw? To paint a clearer picture, we look at the current form of the two players.

Bully Boy can rock the Northeast

Michael Smith is sitting in third place in the Premier League standings. Last week was a setback for him, having carried some form over from Liverpool on Night 6. Smith did outscore Dobey’s three-dart average in last week’s defeat. He just couldn’t match the finishing. But Bully Boy should have his eye in for this one as he looks to improve his W7 L6 match record this season.

Can Masters champ Dobey put in another Hollywood performance?

Few would have pegged Dobey for a place in the Final last week. He was on a run of five straight defeats in Premier League darts action, before breaking that slump with a victory over Smith. It was his stunning 6-0 semi-final win over Michael van Gerwen that was the headline of the night though. Unfortunately for Hollywood, he couldn’t get past Gerwyn Price in the Final. Dobey’s only on a W4 L7 record for the season, with two of those wins happening last week.

Michael Smith vs Chris Dobey Head to Head

With last week’s result, Chris Dobey extended his head-to-head lead over Michael Smith to 5-3. There have been two meetings this year, both won by Hollywood. With three wins in his last four against Smith, Hollywood does have a bit of momentum going.
