Barring an exceptional defeat to Wales, England have a place in the Round of 16. Jack Grealish is enjoying his time with the touring party, watching the exceptional football put on a show by his contemporaries.
After a defeat to Saudi Arabia, Lionel Messi dragged Argentina to victory over Mexico. On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe picked up where he left off in Russia. The PSG attacker has scored in each of Les Bleus’ outings.
Grealish enjoyed watching the duo at their base camp which has all the screens to watch games wherever they want. However, it was the combined efforts of Brazil that caught his eye. He hailed the Canarinho’s performances and believes they have made all the right noises thus far.
“I watch all the games to be honest,” Grealish said. “We have screens all over the place and it’s just nice to have games on all day.
“I watched Messi, unbelievable. He just showed what he’s about in that second half but then again so did Mbappe.
“I think there are lots of brilliant teams, some teams have that one player who’s just unstoppable, but I think Brazil have been one of the most impressive I’ve seen so far. They have so much talent, especially in those attacking areas.
“I think they’re, if you’re asking me who the biggest threat is, I’d probably say Brazil.”
Overreaction from English fans after USA draw
England opened their World Cup campaign with a 6-2 win over Iran, a notoriously defensive outfit under Carlos Queiroz. Gareth Southgate’s men passed the test with flying colours but could only earn a draw in their second outing against the USA.
The Three Lions’ performance against USMNT has been called out by critics as their worst. There have been calls for shuffling the squad as an injury-marred Harry Kane is being forced to play.
Grealish came off the bench to get on the scoreboard against Iran. A similar impact was needed from him against Team USA but the Manchester City wide-man could not deliver.
The 27-year-old brushed aside the scathing attacks on the Three Lions and preferred to give the USA the credit. He stated that the fans have overrated to the draw and they should not worry as progress to knockout rounds is under control.

“Good. We are in a strong position. Obviously, top of the group and it’s all in our hands going into the final game.
“It’s weird sometimes playing for the national team because you have one result like that and it’s as if it is the end of the world – and it’s clearly not.
“I felt like a lot of it was about us. England were this, England were that but at the end of the day, they played very well.
“They was a team that had a lot of energy, very athletic in all the positions, and we have to give them credit for the way they played.
“They changed their tactics up, the way pressed and stuff, from the first game. We know we can play better and we will certainly looking to be doing that going into the second game.
“I think there was a big overreaction. Apart from Spain being the top tournament scorers, we’re the top scorers in the tournament. I can’t think off the top of my head if anyone has scored more than six.
“Against Iran we were the best thing since sliced bread, scoring six goals, and then we go a game without scoring and there was a bit of an overreaction. But I suppose that it what you get sometimes playing for England.”
