Italian winger Wilfried Gnoto is making huge steps into becoming one of the top players in his position in England. Ever since he joined Leeds United back in 2022, he’s been an ever-present danger in the opposition’s penalty box.
At the young age of 19, Wilfried is already caught the eye of some of the top Premier League clubs. How could he not be with performances like these?
Gnoto started strutting his stuff at Ellan Road after a bargain deal of £5m for his rights was achieved in 2022. He was previously defending Zurich’s jersey where he made 65 appearances, scoring on nine occasions.
His debut 2022/23 Premier League season with Leeds United will be remembered for his 25 appearances, two goals, four assists, and seven yellow cards. Wilfried Gnoto is surely a player that has a bright future ahead of him, but which are the teams willing to break the bank for the 19-year-old’s services? After all, the Peacocks got relegated. They’ll definitely look to make a quick buck out of their prized asset.
Gnoto next club odds
Everton – 1/5
All sources indicate that it’s Everton who are most likely to sign Wilfried Gnoto before this summer’s transfer window closes. This means that the Toffees have 20 days until September 1st to complete the purchase.
It doesn’t seem as if the club-to-club negotiations are going smoothly, as Leeds want a whopping £20m for their key attacking player, which is something that Everton can barely afford. Gnoto already expressed his frustration that he isn’t allowed to move to the Premier League side on a permanent basis, but it seems that all sides in the negotiations will agree that a loan deal is the best-case scenario here.
Everton don’t want to break the bank. Leeds don’t want to sell at the moment, and Gnoto wants to move. Negotiations regarding the season-long loan deal will surely go smoother than a permanent transfer would. The Toffees remain key favorites to sign 19-year-old Gnoto, as manager Sean Dyche is an admirer of the Italian.
Aston Villa – 5/1
Villa are second in line to sign Wilfried Gnoto, according to the bookmakers’ odds at the moment. 51-year-old manager Unai Emery took Premier League by storm last season. The board is extremely pleased with his contribution to how the team plays at the moment, and it seems like they are willing to fulfill any of Emery’s transfer plans ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
Aston Villa already snapped up center-back Pau Torres on a €33m deal, right-wing Moussa Diaby for a whopping €55m, and central midfielder Youri Tielemans on a free transfer. Money should be tight at Villa Park at the moment, but Wilfried Gnoto could easily be the next player to join the club should negotiations between Everton and Leeds United fall apart.
West Ham – 12/1
Wilfried Gnoto is definitely on the list, but coach David Moyes has other priorities at the moment. Boosting the backline with ex-United captain Harry Macguire is a vital operation for the Hammers, as there aren’t many world-class alternatives at his disposal at the moment.
Manchester United are willing to let go of their player if a £30m bid from West Ham arrives on the Red Devils’ desk.
Another £30m should be set aside for Southampton’s playmaker-in-chief James Ward-Prowse. Saints’ midfielder is the heart and soul of the club, but after multiple lackluster seasons with the club, the 28-year-old seeks glory.
It looks like the transfer rumors taking Wilfried Gnoto to West Ham will only ever be just that, but anything can happen until the 1st of September, so we’ll just have to be patient.
