Which Premier League team would suit Rangers star Ryan Kent?

Ryan Kent produced a stunning display as Rangers shocked Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League. The Glasgow side ran out 4-2 winners in the first leg in Germany.

Winger Kent was one of many standouts on the night. Among many hugely impressive moments, his best came just after the break. The attacker drove past several Dortmund defenders, twisting and turning before finding the oncoming John Lundstram, who fired into the back of the net.

It was a truly remarkable performance from Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men. The tie is certainly not over yet, but the Gers definitely have the upper hand.

One could be forgiven for predicting that the likes of Amad Diallo and Aaron Ramsey would be the ones tormenting the Bundesliga side. But both started the game on the bench, with only Ramsey coming on late into the match.

It wasn’t the loan duo at all that took the plaudits. While it was a team performance, midfielders Lundstram and Joe Aribo were on another level. But Kent was perhaps even more impressive.

The winger was a constant threat all evening. The opposition simply couldn’t handle his pace and trickery. And it showed when a handful of Dortmund players could only stand and watch as he waltzed past them to create Lundstram’s goal.

Can Rangers keep their star man?

Kent undoubtedly had huge potential as a youngster. He spent his youth at Premier League giants Liverpool. But with the big-name players at Anfield, the winger struggled to make his way into the first team.

Like many other young players at big clubs, he was sent out on loan several times. Coventry, Barnsley, Freiburg and Bristol City all had the player among their ranks once upon a time. His final loan move was indeed to Rangers, who quickly made the move permanent.

Now 25, Kent is bang in form. And his form has been drawing attention from all over. But it could be a switch back to England that will tempt him to leave his beloved Rangers. They will undoubtedly struggle to keep hold of him if a big-money move comes in.

But which teams are chasing him, and where would he fit in best?

Ryan Kent and Steven Gerrard to reunite?

One club that Kent could make a switch to is Aston Villa. It certainly makes sense, given that his former manager Steven Gerrard is now in the Villa dugout. The pair enjoyed a hugely positive relationship together at Ibrox.

Villa have, however, recently strengthened with Philippe Coutinho. But the Brazilian is only on loan, and Gerrard could, therefore, look to replace him with Kent should Coutinho not join the club on a permanent basis.

Leeds are another club that have had strong links to Kent in recent transfer windows. His direct, attacking football would be perfect for Marcelo Bielsa’s men. Moreover, with star winger Raphinha strongly linked with a move away from Elland Road, Leeds would most certainly look at Kent to replace the Brazil international.
