West Ham and Liverpool are set to do battle for the 147th time in history on Wednesday night a match that will have implications at both ends of the Premier League table. Both teams have endured poor seasons by their respective standards but they have also both seen a change in fortunes in recent times.
West Ham, who looked in real danger of being relegated at the start of the month, are now unbeaten in five games in all competitions and look as if they are just one more win away from guaranteeing survival. They also have a Europa Conference League semi-final to look forward to next month.
Liverpool, who looked like they were going to finish in the middle of the Premier League table a few weeks ago, have also enjoyed a mini resurgence in recent weeks that seems to have been inspired by their two-goal comeback against Arsenal on the 9th of April. The Reds haven’t given up on their top-four aspirations just yet but will need to be faultless from now until the end of the season to give themselves a chance.
With the match fast approaching, let’s take a look at the head-to-head record between the two sides.
West Ham vs Liverpool: Overall Head to Head Record
Contents
West Ham and Liverpool are two of the most historic and prestigious football clubs in English football. Both clubs were founded in the 1890s and they have enjoyed some memorable tussles over the years. Most notable, perhaps, was the FA Cup final in 2005 which Liverpool eventually won on penalties after a 3-3 draw.
Out of the 146 games between the two sides, Liverpool have come out on top more often than West ham with 80 victories to their name. The Hammers have beaten Liverpool on 29 occasions while there have been 37 draws.
Unsurprisingly, the competition the two teams have faced off in the most time is the Premier League/Division One.

West Ham vs Liverpool: What Happened Last Time
The last time the two sides met was at the start of the current Premier League season. Back then, Liverpool still had aspirations of winning the Premier League title and West Ham were hoping that their early-season wabbles wouldn’t result in them being involved in the relegation battle.
The match wasn’t a particularly entertaining one with Liverpool edging out their opponents by one goal to nil. The winner came through Dawrin Nunez who headed home following a delicious ball from Konstantinos Tsimikas. It was the Uruguayan’s first goal at Anfield after suffering from some poor form at the beginning of the season.
The game could have turned out very differently, though, as Jarrod Bowen missed a penalty late on in the first half to equalise for the away side. The winger’s penalty was fairly soft which allowed Allison to five to his right-hand side to palm the ball away to safety.
