During his official unveiling, Lampard spoke about the possibility of an extended stay back at his adopted home, saying:
“The role speaks for itself, on that I’m not getting ahead of myself,” Lampard said at his unveiling. “I want to do the best I can to impact the club in this period and we will see what happens afterwards.”
Lampard was axed from his last job in the Premier League at Everton as recently as February for perceived under-performance and the former midfield was relieved of his duties by Chelsea in January 2021 before that.
The club’s all-time leading scorer finished with a 52.4% win percentage after 84 games in charge of the Blues between 2019 and 2021.
Lampard ready for ‘big challenge’

“It’s a big challenge, but aren’t they all. Everything is a challenge, we see how the Premier League is,” he said.
“I’m ready to put my work into this challenge in front of me. I have a clear idea of what I want to achieve in this period.
“I don’t think football can surprise you. It’s such a competitive league. It’s my position to find the right energy, the right results to move ourselves in the right direction. We are where we are. There’s a lot of talent in this squad.”
Lampard dismisses talk of unfinished business
When quizzed about his last spell in charge of Chelsea and whether had unfinished business at the club, Lampard moved quickly to bat suggestions away, saying:
“I’m here in a different period, a different era. Unfinished business sounds a bit Hollywood. I want to work as hard as I can.”
“We want to win as many games as we can. There are big games ahead of us. We have to have a belief in the players and I have huge belief in them. We have to take that in the right direction and win games.”
Chelsea legend Lampard finished with a message to the fans, adding: “I’m very thankful for the ones that are delighted. If there are some that are not, they can know I will give my upmost.
“I don’t think I need to speak too much about my relationship with the Chelsea fans. From the moment I joined many years ago they have been a huge support and I’m forever thankful for that.”
