Germany return the United States hoping to end the USMNT’s recent strong record at home. The Stars and Stripes haven’t lost to Die Mannschaft on North American soil since 1993, so confidence is high.
Last time around The Yanks pulled off a historic 2-1 victory over the defending World Champions in 2015, these are our United States vs Germany predicted lineups.

The home team have a host of players in Europe’s Top 5 leagues, many of whom are performing at a high level. Christian Pulisic has been in good club form since joining Italian giants AC Milan, and he will be providing the bullets for an all-firing Folarin Balogun.
Germany are bringing their strongest squad available, despite some doubts from the camp about the long journey. Julian Nagelsmann is taking charge of his first game, replacing Hansi Flick who was sacked following three straight friendly defeats.
Team news: United States
Gregg Berhalter is a firm favourite of the 4-3-3 formation, and given the technical quality of the players at his disposal it functions well. The lead man is Christian Pulisic, but he has plenty of support around the field.
Yunus Musah has recently joined Pulisic at AC Milan, the 20-year-old central midfielder is back in Italy where he lived his early childhood, shortly before joining Arsenal’s academy. Alongside him we could see Luca De La Torre who has broken through in Celta Vigo after a successful couple of seasons in the Eredivisie.
Speaking of Dutch football and Ricardo Pepi is one of two PSV Eindhoven players vying for a starting spot, the big striker will be contesting his place with Balogun. More assured of a role is Sergiño Dest, the offensive-minded right back fits this system well.

The only MLS player that seems to be in line for a starting role is DeJuan Jones of the New England Revs. Although he is 26 years old, he got his first chance in the senior side at the turn of the year against Serbia.
United States predicted lineup: 4-3-3
Turner – Dest, Richards, Ream, Jones – Musha, De la Torre, Mckennie – Weah, Balogun, Pulisic
Team news: Germany
Thomas Müller needed just four minutes to score against France, and set the Euro 2024 hosts on their way to a first victory since March. The Bayern Munich man was also on target in his only previous appearance against US, the 1-0 World Cup win in 2014.
Mats Hummels also makes a surprise return after two years away from international football. Nagelsmann will not just rely on international experience in this game however, he is looking to make his mark on the team immediately. Three uncapped players are on the plane across the Atlantic for this one.

One of those newbies is midfielder Robert Andrich, who is having a great season at Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen. The 29 year old last pulled on a Germany shirt in 2013, when he ran out for the U20s, this is his first senior call up.
Germany predicted lineup: 4-2-3-1
Ter Stegen – Thiaw, Süle, Rüdiger, Raum – Kimmich, Gündoğan – Sané, Müller, Musiala – Füllkrug
Will Folarin Balogun play today?
Balogun has been in top form for club and country since the beginning of the season, the AS Monaco striker has four goals in his last five in all competitions. The former Arsenal man was a starter for both September friendlies, scoring in the second game against Oman.
It might seem obvious that a young forward in such a hot streak is a certain starter, but it is worth remembering that Pepi came off the bench in both matches and scored in each. Competition is fierce between the two European-based strikers.
We still think Balogun is on the initial teamsheet, he will be tasked with keeping up USMNT’s great record at the Pratt & Whitney stadium where they have only ever lost once.
