Tottenham will be looking to provide their home fans with their first win of the season against United, which would mark Ange Postecoglou’s first competitive victory as manager. Last time out, Spurs were held to a draw away at Brentford which takes them into the second game of the campaign in 9th place, in a fixture that’s destined to be lively.

There were six goals shared between the two sides over their two meetings in the Premier League last term, with United winning 2-0 at Old Trafford before the points were shared in north London with the score ending 2-2 in April.

The game will be available to watch live on Sky Sports for viewers in the UK, let’s get into the latest team news.

Team news: Tottenham Hotspur

It’s set to be a test for the hosts, who haven’t beaten their opponent since 2020 in the Premier League.

After last week’s draw to Brentford, Spurs will be re-joined by Cristian Romero, who was forced off after just 14 minutes due to a head injury, which came just after opening the scoring. The Argentine was furious with the decision to withdraw him from proceedings, however will be back in contention to start against United to the joys of those associated with Spurs.

The doubts for the hosts are as expected, with Fraser Forster, Bryan Gil, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ryan Sessegnon all nursing injuries.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup

Vicario, Royal, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie, Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Kulusevski, Son, Richarlison

Team news: Manchester United

Like Spurs, United will have to be better in their last fixture if they are to get the win on Saturday. Despite winning against Wolves, Erik ten Hag’s side looked far from convincing and were stunned by the Midlands side who looked energetic under Gary O’Neil.

The main concern from the game was the withdrawal of Lisandro Martinez at half-time, which was later revealed to be due to a slight ankle injury which has raised doubts.

United will definitely be without new signing Rasmus Hojlund, Tyrell Malacia, Tom Heaton, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo, who are all recovering from injury.

Manchester United predicted lineup

Onana, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro, Mount, Fernandes, Antony, Garnacho, Rashford.

Will Lisandro Martinez play today?

After being removed from play after the first half against Wolves on Monday, there have been doubts over Martinez’s availability against Spurs.

Erik ten Hag reassured that the centre-back has returned to training in his pre-match press conference, suggesting that he will be in contention to start.

It will be interesting to see if the Dutchman risks starting the Argentine or opt to field Victor Lindelof to ensure he is fully recovered.
