It’s been quite the season for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal. It’s only November, but the Gunners have gone from relegation candidates to fifth in the table in a matter of weeks.
The manager has been key to helping turn things around. He has his own players and own tactics, but many are reporting that some big changes are still yet to happen. They’ve made plenty of signings, but now it could be time to free up some space for a few more.
Here are three players who could leave Arsenal in January:
Ainsley Maitland-Niles

One player that looks set to leave the Emirates in search of regular first-team football is Ainsley Maitland-Niles. According to the Mail Online, Everton are leading the chase for the 24-year-old. A very versatile player, he has been utilised in various roles across the midfield during his time at the club.
He has, however, been sent on two loans during his time with the Gunners. But it could finally be a permanent exit for the midfielder in the next transfer window. Everton boss Rafael Benitez is keen to tighten things up in that area. The Toffees started well, but have since slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Calum Chambers
If Benitez fails to land Maitland-Niles, he will target fellow Arsenal man Calum Chambers, as reported by the Mail Online. Defence is another area that the Spaniard is eager to bolster in the January transfer window.
Chambers is another who has struggled to cement a spot in the first team in north London. He has also been sent out on loan twice over the years. And the arrival of Takehiro Tomiyasu has seen him slip further down the pecking order under Arteta.
Alexandre Lacazette
With strikers such as Dusan Vlahovic and Luka Jovic reportedly available, Arsenal will need to rearrange the situation going forward. And that looks likely to come in the form of Alexandre Lacazette leaving the Gunners.
The forward has somewhat failed to hit the heights expected of him in red and white. Moreover, minutes have been hard to come by this season. Tutto Juve claims that both Juventus and Inter are keeping tabs on the French striker.
An Arsenal return for Aaron Ramsey?
It might not be all outgoings for the Gunners in January. The Evening Standard reports that former player Aaron Ramsey could potentially make a return. The midfielder enjoyed his first couple of seasons in Italy. But his time on the pitch has reduced drastically this season.
What a way to finish the group. A massive point against such a strong team. Full credit to the boys, put in another massive shift 💪🏼 and again a massive thank you to #theredwall 👏🏼👏🏼🏴🏴🏴 @FAWales pic.twitter.com/dfTs5JOGQA

He hasn’t been lining out for the Old Lady in recent months, but the Welsh international proved he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level in the recent international break. He helped his country secure a World Cup play-off spot with the draw against Belgium.
Moreover, Arsenal fans are well aware of his talent. The 30-year-old’s signature would provide the added bonus of having someone to help nurture the youngsters in the squad. The likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka would certainly benefit.
