It will be an all-Manchester affair in the FA Cup as the Red Devils take on the challenge of the Citizens. Peg Guardiola’s charges made little work of Sheffield United while United required a penalty shootout win over Brighton to secure their place in the final.
City are fighting on three fronts and remain favourites for a historic treble. With the season entering its final stretch, matches are coming in thick for both sides. Pep Guardiola has asked for fans help to get them through this stage of their campaign.
Denying City the Treble
Erik ten Hag has a different agenda on his mind. The Dutchman does not want their ‘noisy neighbours’ to match Manchester United’s 1999 feat and has vowed to stand in their way.

The Red Devils have already added the Carabao Cup to their trophy cabinet this season. They now have their sights set on completing the cup double with an FA Cup triumph.
โWe will give everything and when I say everything, that is everything, more than 100 per cent you canโt do, the fans can rely on that. We want to give that against City, we want to give the fans that,โ Ten Hag remarked.
โI understand, of course, the feelings from the fans about it. We will do everything to give them the second trophy โ everything what I have, everything the team has, the staff have, we will give everything to get it done. We can do it, because we prove it. Itโs not easy though, itโs a great team, but we also have a great team.โ
United can beat City
Ten Hag has a date with destiny on June 3rd. The Wembley Stadium will be buzzing with excitement as the Manchester Derby is played in full view of the fans.
City has been the dominant side in their recent duels with three wins in their last four meetings. This includes a 4-1 humbling at the Etihad Stadium in March 2022 followed by a 6-3 demolishing job in October.
Ten Hag quickly adjusted to the defeat and saw his side claim bragging rights at Old Trafford at the end of January 2023. The Dutchman is well aware of the task at hand and has vowed that his side will give all they can and more to lift the FA Cup.

With 12 FA Cup triumphs, United are the second-most decorated team in the oldest cup competition. City’s tally is half of the Red Devils and it remains the only competition where they have struggled to give their best, winning it only once in the last decade while adding four Premier League titles to their ranks.
