Team News: Southampton

The Saints continued their winning form against Queens Park Rangers in the last game with a 2-1 lead. Samuel Edozie gave Southampton the lead in the 30th minute but that was equalised just two minutes after. But Adam Armstrong rescued the Saints with his strike in the 64th minute to find all three points for his team. Southampton have three wins and a draw against Norwich in four rounds of the EFL Championship.

Shellbone and Juan Larios will remain sidelined for Southampton due to ongoing injuries. In addition, centre-back Jack Stephens sustained an injury over the past weekend, which is projected to keep him out of action for an extended period. As a result, Mason Holgate could make his debut in the Saints’ defensive lineup. Loanee Ryan Fraser, who made a cameo appearance in the last game, might also secure his first start with Southampton.

Southampton predicted lineup:

Bazunu; Walker-Peters, Bednarek, Holgate, Manning; Alcaraz, Charles, S.Armstrong; Fraser, A.Armstrong, Edozie

Will Jack Stephens play for Southampton?

In the previous match against QPR, the newly appointed captain of the Saints, Jack Stephens, suffered an injury to his left leg. Flynn Downes was called upon to take over Jack’s role in the 25th minute. Following the game, Manager Russell Martin alluded to the possibility that the injury might be more serious than initially thought, potentially resulting in an extended period of absence for Jack. Consequently, it appears unlikely that the centre-back will be available for the upcoming match against Sunderland.
