Sheffield United vs Man City Predicted Lineups and News

Before we go into more details regarding the Sheffield United vs Man City possible lineups we’ll give you the latest team news for each team and what that means for their overall strength.

Team news: Sheffield United

Sheffield are yet to find their stride since achieving promotion back to the top flight last spring. The Blades had 2 seemingly kind fixtures in the first 2 rounds and yet they remain pointless. After losing 0-1 at home vs Crystal Palace Heckingbottom’s men also lost 1-2 away vs Nottingham Forest last weekend. In both those matches the inability to create and convert chances was the main reason why no points were earned.

Sheffield United’s infirmary is a busy place right now. Heckingbottom struggles to find enough fit first-team players these days. Just last weekend Lowe, Souza and Traore had to be subbed injured. Lowe, a key wing-back, is ruled out now but both Souza and Traore hope to at least make the bench.

The other main wing-back Baldock and striker McBurnie have also resumed training after injuries and they could be back too. No such hope for 7 other players, among them key inner midfielder Fleck, who remain in rehabilitation.

Sheffield United Predicted Lineups (3-5-2):

Foderingham – Robinson, Egan, Ahmedhodzic – Baldock, Norwood, Davies, Larouci, Hamer – Traore, Osula

Team news: Man City

Man City have been very solid in the first 2 rounds. They beat Burnley 3-0 away from home before last weekend an important 1-0 home win against a very strong Newcastle team was secured. Just for good measure in-between those games City lifted the UEFA Super Cup after defeating Sevilla on penalties.

Ederson will be confident he could keep a third consecutive Premier League clean sheet. The last time Man City conceded more than 1 goal outside Manchester in a Premier League match was over a year ago, in August 2022, when they drew 3-3 vs Newcastle.

City parted ways with defender Laporte last week, he too joined the Saudi Pro League, but the explosive winger Doku was added to the ranks and he could be making his debut this weekend. John Stones and star playmaker De Bruyne remain the only sidelined players.

The other important City member who miss the game is coach Pep Guardiola. He is currently recovering after back surgery so his assistant Juanma Lillo will be calling the shots from the dugout.

Man City Predicted Lineups (4-2-3-1):

Ederson – Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol – Rodri, Kovacic – Silva, Alvarez, Grealish – Haaland

Will Bernardo Silva play for Man City?

Yes, Bernardo Silva has ended the speculations about his future after signing a contract extension this week. He has also recovered well from illness and we expect him to be fit enough to start.
