Sadio Mane lashed out at teammate Leroy Sane following Bayern Munich’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Tuesday night at the Etihad according to the latest news surrounding the German side.

According to reports in Germany, the shocking incident occurred in Bayern’s locker room at the end of the game. Supposedly, the altercation was short-lived but loud.

The incident erupted following a scuffle between the two superstars during the final minutes of the European match.

On-Field Disagreement Led to Dressing Room Bust Up

In the 69th minute, former Liverpool forward Mane was substituted for young star Jamal Musiala. Moments later, Mane and Sane were observed arguing on the field due to a communication breakdown, with Sane keen to impress against his former club, City.

The argument reportedly persisted in the locker room, with Mane complaining about how Sane spoke to him. According to a report by the German newspaper BILD, tensions reached a boiling point when Mane suddenly struck Sane in the face.

Mane is also rumored to have bitten a teammate on the lip during the incident.

Mane’s Troublesome Stint at Bayern Continues

According to reports, this led to Bayern Munich’s players separating Mane and Sane before the situation simmered down. The German Giants have yet to comment on the rumored incident.

The alleged incident occurs during what has been quite a challenging debut season for Mane in Germany, where he is enduring a difficult time goals-wise.

The 31-year-old Senegalese international moved from Liverpool to Bayern last summer, but has scored just six Bundesliga goals since then due to a leg injury.

Due to his dearth of form, Mane was benched for the first leg of Bayern’s Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City.

The left winger, who finished second in last year’s Ballon d’Or voting, would not have been dropped for such an important contest in his at Liverpool.

The reported altercation is also not a positive look for Sane, who has failed to find great form since his 2020 summer transfer from City to Bayern. The Germany international is running out of time to leave his mark on European soccer at age 27.

Sane likely desired to create an impression against City, but he was unable to do so. Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland scored goals as the Premier League champions cruised to a 3-0 victory.

Pep Guardiola will no doubt be confident his side can now advance to the semifinals.

Thomas Tuchel, who succeeded Julian Nagelsmann as Bayern manager last month, is another individual who will be shaken by the alleged incident.

Freiburg recently eliminated Bayern from the DFB-Pokal, and a Champions League relegation is imminent. That could mean the Bundesliga side will finish the season with no silverware, an unprecedented event in the storied club’s recent history.

“I try to not allow my players to focus on the result,” Tuchel said following the game on Tuesday evening.

“I think it is not a deserved result, it does not tell the story of this match,” he said, “We played with personality, courage and a lot of quality but we didn’t get the rewards we deserved.”

“This does not feel a 3-0, but it is a 3-0. It is a huge task to turn it around but we will not give up.”
