Real Madrid vs Union Berlin Predicted Lineups: Why Bellingham can boss UCL opener?

Real Madrid vs Union Berlin Predicted Lineups – Real Madrid begin their UEFA Champions League campaign when they host Bundesliga underdogs Union Berlin at the new and improved Santiago Bernabeu this Wednesday evening.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side look to take early control of Group B by outplaying the Champions League debutants and maintaining their 100% win rate so far this season.

Real Madrid vs Union Berlin Predicted Lineups and News

Real Madrid have been on fire since the start of the new campaign, winning all of their La Liga matches so far, with the most recent of them being over a Sociedad side also engaging in midweek UCL action. New signing Jude Bellingham is turning out to be a masterstroke, leading them to the majority of their victories.

However, in Union Berlin, they face an unpredictable German side that is not to be taken lightly. The Bundesliga side fought against the odds to qualify for the top level of European competition, and their courageous style can rattle any side.

Ancelotti knows that his side needs to start their Champions League campaign on a winning note to take control of the group early on. Ultimately, Los Blancos’ experience in this competition and home form should allow them to overpower the newcomers.

Team News: Real Madrid

Real Madrid will miss a number of key first-team players after they picked up some unfortunate injuries in the early weeks of the new season. Thibaut Courtois (knee) is out for the majority of the campaign due to an injury he sustained in training.

Eder Militao also injured his knee and was forced to undergo surgery after picking up a problem in their La Liga opener against Athletic Bilbao. Vinicius Jr is also out of this game due to a thigh injury. Summer signing Arda Guler is out with a knee injury too. Dani Carvajal has now reportedly become the latest to get injured (muscle injury) and is likely to miss the next few games.

Despite all the injuries, Los Blancos still have a perfect win record this season. This is mostly due to the heroics of Jude Bellingham, who will make his Champions League debut alongside loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Urs Fischer’s side are going to be missing some important first-team stars for their Champions League debut too. Midfielder Rani Khedira is likely to be out after sustaining a calf injury earlier this season.

Midfielders Andras Schafer (foot) and Laurenz Dehl (training injury) are also expected to be out of action for this one. Forward Sheraldo Becker, however, could be back for this after missing the last few games due to a muscle injury.

The Iron Ones are well aware of their underdogs’ tag, so they’ll aim to maintain their stubborn defensive nature. In turn, they can benefit from experienced Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci, who could make his Champions League debut for them.

David Datro Fofana, the energetic striker on loan from Chelsea, is also in line for his debut in Europe’s premier club competition.

Can Bellingham be Real Madrid’s new UCL hero?

Bellingham is definitely justifying the €103 million fee paid by Real Madrid for his services this summer. The Englishman has already scored five goals in as many La Liga appearances, and is soaring in the no.10 role.

After excelling in the league, Bellingham aims to deliver similar goal numbers in the Champions League. He has the knowledge of what it takes to outwit Union Berlin, having played against them last season with Borussia Dortmund.

The 20-year-old will look to torment them with his clever movement and get among the goals by perfectly executing his excellent final product yet again.
