Brazil are also among the favourites heading into the tournament. But their winger Vinicius Jr thinks that France are the ones to beat.
When asked if Brazil are currently the strongest nation ahead of the competition, he said: “It’s a little bit difficult, right? The best team is always the team that won the last World Cup.
“I think France are the best at the moment. But at the World Cup that can change and there are a lot of teams with a good chance of winning.
“Argentina is doing very well, Brazil, England, Germany… they are all teams that will be strong in this World Cup – and may Brazil win!”
Vinicius Jr ready to shine for Brazil
Vinicius is having another strong season for Real Madrid. He has eight goals and five assists from his 17 matches so far.
The winger is set to be a regular for his country at the tournament. He could line up alongside the likes of Neymar and Gabriel Jesus.
The country’s attack is undoubtedly set to be one of the strongest in Qatar. They can also call upon Raphinha and Richarlison.
Vinicius Jr’s Real Madrid teammate Rodrygo and Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli will also be eyeing a spot in the Brazil squad.
Antony and Roberto Firmino could also be in contention to play in attack.
The 2022 World Cup will be Vinicius Jr’s first taste of the famous competition. He is expecting his country to make their mark in Qatar.
“I think I will be playing; it is going to be a very special World Cup for me and for everyone with high hopes for Brazil,” said the Real Madrid winger. “After so long, to have a strong team – it is important for us.”
At just 22, Vinicius Jr is already well on his way to heroic status at Real Madrid. He has 187 appearances to his name for the Spanish giants.
In that time, the attacker has scored 44 goals. He has also managed 48 assists.
Winger “very happy” at Real Madrid
While the thought of playing Premier League football is tempting, the forward sees himself staying with the La Liga side for the rest of his career.
“It is true that I’m very happy here at Real Madrid and I think I will play here until the end of my career,” added Vinicus Jr.
“Of course, experiencing another league is important and I think the Premier League is a league that every player wants to play in.
“But my dream is and always was to play for Real Madrid.”
The Brazilian has two La Liga titles to his name. He also recently lifted the Champions League trophy. The winger scored the only goal of the game as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 in May.
