Premier League 2023/24: When are next season’s fixtures announced?

The dust has only just settled on the domestic season in England, however, preparations are already well underway for the new campaign and the fixture list for the 2023/24 Premier League is just 24 hours away from being published.

Manchester City, who lifted their third successive title last term, will be determined to launch a successful title defence in 2023/24, while the three sides promoted to the top tier from the Championship, Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton, will all be aiming to make a splash at the top of the English football pyramid.

Every summer, supporters and club officials alike await the release of the Premier League fixture list with eager anticipation, crossing their fingers that their aspirations will be aided by some favourable scheduling by the infamous fixture computer.

When will the new 2023/24 Premier League fixtures be released?

The fixtures for the new 2023/24 Premier League campaign are scheduled to be released at 9am BST on Thursday, June 15th, so fans don’t have long to wait.

The Premier League season is due to kick-off on August 12, one week later than the start of the previous campaign, with the date knocked back to to compensate for the mid-season World Cup in Qatar.

However, the new Premier League fixture list will provide a return of the mid-season break for players, which will take place in January from the 13th to the 20th of the month.

In addition, the Premier League have made a commitment to clubs that no two rounds of fixtures will take place within 48 hours of each other during the notoriously congested Christmas and New Year periods, to ease the burden on overworked players.

2023/24 Premier League season key dates

As we touched on above, the 2023/24 Premier League season will commence on August 12th with the campaign due to end nine months later on May 19 2024.

The Premier League’s summer transfer window will slam shut at 11pm on Friday, September 1st with the winter window pencilled into open on Monday, January 1st 2024. That month-long recruitment scramble will stop at 11pm on Thursday, February 1st.

The date for the season’s traditional curtain-raiser, The Community Shield, is yet to be confirmed, though it usually takes place a week before the start of the Premier League itself. Treble winners Manchester City and runners-up Arsenal will contest that clash after the Cityzens’ success in the FA Cup.

When does the Carabao Cup and FA Cup start?

Manchester United landed the Carabao Cup at the expense of beaten finalists Newcastle last season in Erik ten Hag’s maiden year at the helm, though it’s back to square one for the Red Devils and the rest of the tournament’s hopefuls next term when the competition starts again the week commencing August 7th.

The 2023/24 Carabao Cup Final will be played at February 25th at Wembley Stadium in London.

That venue will also host the FA Cup Final, though a date for that showpiece occasion has yet to be cemented on the calendar.
